Default 97 ti transmission question

I'm new to the forum, I just bought a 97ti that I will pick up later this week. It has the M on the side panel and leather/cloth interior so I think its the Sport model? Anyway my questionis this. It has the auto (which was the only major drawback to the car) It has 136K on the car and I'm wondering if the auto's are prone to failure and if so how many miles do they usually make it? Also can the auto handle a supercharger?
