Default Battery Dead?

I just started up and drove my ti from the front to back of the house, turned it off, got out and realized I needed to pull up farther but got nothing after twisting the key 5 or 6 times w/ the brake and clutch down out of 1st gear and then from neutral.

What’s puzzling is, I started up the ti less than 5 minutes before it went caput
How could this be?

I’m guessing that the battery in ti must be dead because there is no electrical start, but the interior lights still illuminate when I open a door.

Any help/ advice appreciated

Maybe the clutch switch is flaky. I installed a clutch bump stop in my car, and sometimes the same thing happens to me. The switch that must be actuated on the clutch pedal is not closing.

I have had two cars in one month start up, pull into garage, and go to restart and nothing. Used to be they would give some warning, but no longer. Works fine then the next time - freaking dead.

Get a new battery if you haven't already done so.

Regrets....

I don't think the ti has a clutch start switch? I know mine doesn't, starts fine with the clutch in or out (so don't forget to leave it in unless you are starting in neutral).

I know you had a dead battery, but for the benefit of the new people the 318ti won't try to start after it has already been started or attempted to start unless you turn the ignition switch off before trying to start it again. This is done to prevent damage to the starter by trying to make it start while the engine is already running. This supprised me at first as I thought there was something wrong with the car. I thought the battery was dead or something.

your car starts up by pushing the clutch in? I dont get this, a lot of stick shifts, the car needs to have the clutch pushed in to start. But not my car. i just put it in neutral and i could just start it up. Why is this?

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

I've read that certain years dont need to have the clutch pushed in to start the car. I know mine does, if you listen closely, in my car, you can hear the relay or whatever when you press the clutch pedal with the key in the ignition.
