Default Hey. Hi. How ya doin?

Hello

My name is Theron

I am new to the world of owning a BMW, but many of my hoonigan companions have m50/m52 swapped e30s that I have worked on plenty.

I like the weird trim level of everything you can buy. Some of my favorite cars I've had are my Jeep Comanche, Vw rabbit pickup, and jetta wagon. This being said I have always wanted a 318ti. In my eye, they are the BMW equivelant of a Vw corrado (minus power, plus rwd)

I found my ti for 2500 on cl and got it for 1800. Still more than kbb but I'm OK with that, its super fun. I haven't had a rwd car since my 928.

The day after I bought the ti, I passed a towing lot that I pass all the time and out of the corner of my eye, I saw a badge that I hadn't seen there before.

$600 later, I had a donor.

So far, I have ordered a gripforce "stage4" clutch, rear mains, vac Motorsport oil pump upgrade, m3 clutch slave, and some other goodies. Next on my list is main and rod bearings.

The po went under a cable guardrail, and the posts destroyed lots of stuff. Hopefully it stalled and didn't run long without oil.

THE HELP I SEEK:

MY TI IS OBD2
THE M IS OBD1

I pretty much haven't found wiring answers.

Can I put the m3 ews module and transponder in my obd2 car?

Plug the body harness into the engine harness and go? Or is that going to be off?

Plug and play m3 cluster? I heard I need it for the tach.

Thanks all for looking!

Welcome to the forum.

That ti looks nice.

Good luck with the swap - I know you will get some answers here.

Thanks! I believe so! I found most of it last night. Pretty much need to change 2 wires at x20 for the engine harness. Found how to disable ews, still a mystery on the cluster though.

Well I got a bunch of stuff today, pan gasket, rear mains, m3 clutch slave, throwout and pilot, clutch. I was going to slap all this on and drop it in, but now I am going to be patient and throw in bearings too.

Just as a warning, if you have emissions in the county you live in. Running obd1 will not allow you the car to talk to their software. So you won't pass. It's not hard to convert the engine to obd2 and I bet a bunch of your friends have most of the parts to do the swap. Since e30 guys love to run obd1. If you have any other questions, feel free to pm me.
