Default ASC-T Removal

Would I pass inspection if I removed it? If I do, how do switch it around, so that it's automatically off when I start the car, and turns on when I hit the switch.

yes you would pass inspection... traction control is not mandatory, like safety stuff such as airbags, or emissions stuff.

as for switching it arround, no clue.. dont even think it is possible.

It might throw a warning light like ABS or something. There is a thread about ASC removal and how to bypass/trick the computer:

I'm assuming you want to do this to your ti which, as far as I know, you are trying to sell. I wouldn't do it and then sell the car because the person who ends up with it might not be that experienced of a driver and could end up in a bad situation. BMW put the system in to aid drivers and even though you feel comfortable disabling it the next person might not. Just a thought.

I probably won't even need to sell the ti. Gonna go in and see if I can get a loan. Soon me and james might have something more in common

I think you are reading that right, I doubt a bank would give out a loan for an M52, lol.

either unhook the cable, or simply pull the plug on the asc unit.

it shouldn't cause any other malfunctions.

thats correct.. but, if you wanna be thourough, remove the ASC-T throttle body & replace the rubber boot with a non-ASCt car one, for improved air flow... also, may need a shorter throttle cable, though I could be wrong about this.

Marko is right too, that is the proper way to do it. I removed the extra TB and put the non-ASC boot on my m52.... but if you plan to sell it and just want to disable it, you can use my options listed above.

I can't see the need in a shorter cable though, since it is a seperate cable that controls ASC.
