I'm taking the swap plunge! I found a very low mileage m52 ( >60k! ) in perfect condition from a seller just down the street from me. It's complete with harness, accessories, DME, and EWS with the key. Of course, it would have been nice to do a s50/s52 swap, but the price of the m52 was just too good to pass up. I'm picking up the motor on Saturday and bringing it home for a good cleaning. I have found a m50 intake manifold, I will just need a new clutch assembly and exhaust. (maybe a set of s52 cams...) I am ordering Jim's swap manual tonight and I will start reading as soon as it's here, so I can ensure that I get everything sourced before this is tackled. I will update this as things happen! __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. This will certainly take it to the next level. Not in the Ti of course, but just held onto it for a future project or something. I thought about how cool it would be to drop it into an e30. Then I have to remind myself that my car still doesn't run and I don't have room in my garage for another engine Congrats on the new project James, I'm sure you'll be running on six in no time! | | | 05-28-2009, 07:08 PM | #10 | That's not Millpoint Blue Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: BNA Posts: 3,161 | Quote: Originally Posted by wolferj Now I just need to decide what to do with the m42... | Hmmm... Day one consisted of putting my ducks in a row... Ordered the swap manual and exchanged a few email recommendations with Jim, ordering a brake upgrade from Ed, researching best prices and options for exhaust and cooling systems, searching for a 6 cyl. cluster with comparable mileage... You all know the drill... I promise I will take lots of pictures (I am a photo whore and so are my cars!)... As for kit cars to throw m42's and m44's into, isn't that what e21's and e30's are now? If I had more time (and money) I would be doing just that... __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion.
