It's under my dad's name but the car is in my name. I'm on the insurance as primary driver I think. Didn't apply the good student discount either. So roughly $140 a month. 19, Student, Stamford, CT, I don't know what other factors matter? A factor that does NOT matter for any insurance company: car color, don't let people talk you out of a red car, insurance is the same as any other color. They are also no more likely to be polled over based on several studies. | | | 08-09-2007, 04:32 AM | #19 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Clearwater, Florida Posts: 153 | Oh, so color does not matter? :P So, it's going to be close towards..1500+$, ouch.. Hmm, I also don't understand the idea of this, can't the car just be under my parent's name and I can drive it and get a lowered rate? Thanks. | | | 08-09-2007, 08:44 AM | #20 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Latvia Posts: 17 | I'm 24, never had a car accident and I'm paying 66$/YEAR here in Latvia for 318ti '95 Third Part Liability Insurance and another 300$/YEAR for general insurance against theft and damage to the car. | | | 08-09-2007, 01:06 PM | #21 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Maryland, USA Posts: 678 | ~$90/month, 25m, near Baltimore Maryland, a few points on the record , Liberty Mutual. __________________ BostonGreen 97' w/ DASC & Technique Stage 1 software M3 front bumper. It also will be affected by your grades, any moving violations, accidents, prior claims, etc.....Also depending on how your parents do their insurance, if all their home owners, vehilce, etc are with the same company you get big breaks. For me I just have the one vehicle but my health insurance is with state farm so I get breaks there, plus a clean record of no moving violations or accidents and have good grades help a ton!! __________________ 1998 M-tech 325ti; Hellrot: M50 Swap, Cold-Air Intake, Custom Magna-Flow Exhaust, Depo Housings w/55 Watt HID, Yellow Fogs,Tinted Windows (35%), M3 Front Spoiler Lip, Black Grills, X-Brace, 17" Drag DR-19 wrapped with Hankook VR-12s, Bilstein HD with M-Tec Springs | | | 08-09-2007, 10:18 PM | #28 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Clearwater, Florida Posts: 153 | I see, Hmm lol.. It's still going to be expensive for me tho lol. I have good grades so that's good, but for insurance I only have it for auto nothing else loll.. so yup. | | | 08-10-2007, 02:38 AM | #29 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Northern New Jersey Posts: 395 | 21/M Under my own policy with Liberty Mutual. Liability coverage only, no claimed accidents in the last three years, or ever with this car for that matter, never any points on my license... ~$2800/yr. Not sure how they expect us to live around here. I tried for Geico, and it was even more | | | 08-10-2007, 04:38 PM | #30 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: Pittsburgh, PA Posts: 1,224 | If the car is insured under your parents name and you are added as an authorized driver of the car, that would be the cheapest way to go. Your parents thought would need to be listed as the owner of the car - so you may have to change your registration. No matter how you slice it, at your age, being an authorized driver on your parent's insurance is the cheapest way to go. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
