First of all there is a steam coming out of the radiator and my fan does not turn on... Is it supposed to turn on at 180deg? I was thinking it was the thermostat along with a bad fan. This is my second overheating problem aside from the hose from the back of the heater core which was a bitch too replace. Thanks a lot. | | | 07-20-2007, 12:04 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Oklahoma Posts: 179 | Also where is the fan fuse? You must remove the cluster panel to access it. Look in other similar threads with overheating problems. Most likely not bled properly. Fan not running also due to not bled properly or radiator temp sensor bad....passenger side of radiator ($30 part). If you've recently replaced the coolant or thermostat or water pump, it's probably.......bleeding procedure during coolant fill-up. There is probably an air pocket in the system and coolant not circulating properly. Again, look in other similar threads......... __________________ It's always a great day to be underwater and play with the fish.....preserve our oceans and reefs" Fariz 1997 318ti, Hellrot (Bright Red), Dinan Stage 2 Chip 16x7 OEM sport Wheels/X-Brace/Custom Strut Brace/Cold Air Intake/M-Tec Steering Wheel/Koni Adjustable FrontShocks/ Bilstein Sport Rear Shocks /H&R Sport Springs/Custom fabricated strut tower brace/Rear Strut brace, Stromung Exhaust Future Mods: E46 17" wheels or Kosei K-1 17x8.5s | | | 07-20-2007, 01:11 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2007 Location: Oklahoma Posts: 179 | Appreciate all the info.. I will check the bleed plug to see if it's in right position.. I will also replace the temp sensor and thermostat... Will re-bleed it to, the coolant has been replaced recently.. The thermostat or water pump hasn't been replaced to my knowledge. Thanks again! | | | 07-20-2007, 03:49 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2007 Location: Downtown Historic Fredericksburg, VA Posts: 339 | Quote: Originally Posted by React Appreciate all the info.. I've been chasing down an overheating issue for a week, pulling my hair out. Changed thermostat, pump, hoses, y-pipe in back of cylinder head and the small hoses, bled about 100 times, even w/ the car nose up and heater on. Still overheats and the passenger side of radiator and bottom hose is barely warm. I thought maybe I got a bad thermostat, so I'll have to remove it and see about the bleed hole. I don't think the radiator is clogged because I can squeeze the bottom hose and see coolant coming out from the hole in the reservoir as I squeeze it. Oh, I changed the temp sensor/switch on the radiator as well. | | | 07-22-2007, 06:46 AM | #11 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: SF Posts: 4 | Well, I checked the bleed hole on the tstat and it was in the correct position. Maybe I have a bad tstat or something is blocked in the cylinder head. *pulls more hair out* | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
