Default Working on intake.

Hello all, I am working on fabricating a cold air box around my pod filter and just want to keep all that are interested updated.

I have a 95 Ti sport with the old school air flap mafs and love it. The old school design helps with one major effect of running a pod. The oil from the pod coating newer mafs types and causing engines to well go boom.

I will be changing how parts of the intake manifold are build and how each component mounts as soon as i can. I will also be fabricating an isolated air box that can except dry ice for super chilled air. I will post pics and designs when i get around to them.

Should have a pic on here soon of how it is right now.

Ok I'm interested since I use a K&N cone right next to my radiator, it's nice and hot before it gets squeezed under boost getting even hotter until it finally hits the Intercooler. I've never heard of the newer MAFs blowing up a car due to oil, Mine has oil on it all the time dues to a turbo seal leak. I have found that a MAF sender with oil on it tells the DME more air is flowing through it causing the DME to richen up the AFR.

Anyways I'm interested in how to make a cold air for my setup since I can't run a stock Flogged airbox

No regular oil really mainly the oil you clean the filter with. It sticks to the blade in the maf and causes the engine to run lean

Thats what i have so far. I just finished cutting an 1/8 bored to see if the blockage makes a difference. Hoping it does. If it works ill go more with sheet metal or possibly fiberglass or carbon fiber.

Dang thanks for posting and keep at it. I have no room where you filter is mounted, That is where I hide all my Meth injection stuff.

I like to be sneaky and hide my stuff so when we have the old let me look under your hood before we race request they don't think I can boost over 17psi without detonation. What they don't know is my overflow tank is filled with Meth and I run a scramble turbo controller. I leave on 15psi boost then as soon as I hook up I scramble the boost to 20 or higher, I have 6 scramle settings up to 28psi (Summer air). At 17psi boost the meth system goes active and is linear with boost psi. The Meth is like 131 octane and completely stops all detonation issues. Sorry I wrote this out since it has nothing to do with cold air filter which is your thread but I felt like writing about it...

It somewhat does. The colder your intake the better your performance. I run 120 octane with a water meth super chill shot.

I will be running dry ice boxes for both my intake and fuel line, and e85 with a chance of full on alcohol race fuel in what's becoming an s42 clone

With success i will now be planning on building a proper air divider. After driving i can now put my hand on my filter without it being semi hot, its now mostly cool. I will be fully isolating the entire intake including manifold. To keep all the warm air off it.

That didn't work as intended.
But, look halfway down the page at the intakes.
There's one for our motors.

I do like the part of non oiled filters seeing as how I've seen those blow well over 20 engines,
