Default Rough cold idle 97 318ti and fuel smell

Hello my 97 idles poorly on first start up on cold mornings. Cold is around 25 -30 F. It always starts fine but has a hard miss for a minute or 2 until it warms up a little. I can still drive it. It does this in summer as well but not nearly as noticable. I changed the spark plugs last summer. I have not looked at the vacuum hoses connected to the injectors or cleaned the intake "adjuster unit".

Any thoughts where to start looking?

Also I get a fuel smell in the cabin when the tank is full. This has been a problem since I bought the car this summer. I changed the 2 big Orings on the fuel tank sender and fuel level. Could this be related? Maybe small fuel leak bleeds down pressure?

Thanks in advance. Bill

What kind of spark plugs did you use?

Does this help you by any chance?

This sounds a little more like your situation.
