Most BMW people stay away from Seibon and go with MA Shaw for quality carbon fiber parts. But I guess this comment doesn't help as you already bought it. Correction.. It was VIS that had really bad hoods. In order of quality from bad to good from other peoples comments I think it goes VIS, Seibon, then MA Shaw. | | | 11-16-2007, 03:15 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Auburn, WA Posts: 1,814 | well seibon is not that bad but lets see how it works __________________ 5/96 318TI Sport BIG TURBO | | | 11-16-2007, 01:37 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | Wish I had the money for a cf hood | | | 11-16-2007, 11:15 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Quad Cities, Iowa Posts: 2,110 | Not a huge fan of that style but it could be worse. That type of hood design originally came from true racing cars that needed to vent heat from the engine compartment. Specifically high horsepower turbo'd cars. I think Bimmerworld has a e36 wagon that they put a monster turbo system into, and they needed this type of hood to keep the temps down. In a street car I would try to work out some kind of underhood panel to get the water to drain away from any critical components... Getting a lot of standing water in your spark plug holes would not be a good idea. | | | 11-19-2007, 05:51 PM | #15 | Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: NC Posts: 90 | Quote: Originally Posted by thesk8nmidget ouch! thats not good! | Eh, its not too bad unless he has a CAI, I know some people don't even have hoods You should make sure there are no leaks in the air intake system before you install it but otherwise, with simple rain, an engine can stand it Chuck | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
