Default Quick Question about OE lip.

I searched around the forums and I found a few things but nothing really answered my question: First off, is the bumper on the "sport" ti the same as the "M3" bumper, and second will all of the lips advertised as fitting on the "M3" bumper fit on my 97 ti sport? I want to get the little black trim around the front end cuz it looks nice

318ti Sport Bumper = M3 Bumper =
That bumper.

If it fits on the M3 bumper, then it will fit.
The lip is a nice subtle addition.

Alright..Thanks. Mines got the slot grill instead of the mesh, but I believe thats just an option, no? And, Randy, could you confirm that this is the lip that will fit on the bottom of my bumber? It's the last item on the page, titled Bumper Cover Spoiler, Front Lower Trim (M Technic), E36 M3 B30/B32. Thanks again for your help.

ya you have to drill holes.
theres a different between the sport bumper and the m3 bumper actually
i have the m3 bumper and it came with the lip installed already
the 318ti sport bumper doesnt have the place to add the m3 lip unless you drill some spots shown by the link

Do you think its worth it? It sure looks nicer to me, kind of finishes the front off without spending much don't you think? I'm going to be fixin up the outside of my ti with the clear markers all around and the lip. Should be a nice little facelift.

Hey man,
That is the lip that you want and as you saw on the link posted above, it has the same part number.
M3_killer, they are the same bumper, the M3 lux package has the same setup as the 318ti sport (Slat grille with no lip)

Edit: I just remembered another link regarding the installation.

hmmm but then why doesnt the sport have the location for the lip already? you have to mod the bumper for the lip to be installed. jess had to mod his for the lip to be installed. i dont know i got a salvaged m3's bumper and it has the lip pre-fitted.

oh and ya its totally worth it...makes the bumper look much better and also gives a little more low look to it. but get it painted to match your body color.

It's the same thing, BMW just drills the holes at the factory for the M3 (non-lux).
If you were to buy a new OEM bumper for an M3 from the dealer, you'll get one without holes predrilled (I think).
I had to drill into my bumper too...

The M-technic bumper did not include the lip on an M3.
Our sports use the luxury M3 bumper. That is why it has the slats.
The regular M3s used mesh.
Many people remove the slats and replace it with the mesh.

Well then. Honestly I kind of wanted to keep the lip plastic/matte black to compliment the diffuser in the back and the black trim. Any ideas as to how much it would be to get that painted?
