I did not think anything of this as the check engine light went off and only seemed to come back on after I was driving the car for over a couple hours. Then recently when the driving slowly through a neighborhood, the exclamation point signaled on the dashboard and the engine stalled. After waiting for about 30 seconds the car started back up and I parked the car. Could this possibly be due to the oxygen sensor being bad? Any other ideas? | | | 09-08-2006, 10:05 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Plugged cat. Bad crank/cam position sensor. Bad fuel pumps/pump relay. Sorry I am a complete newbie. | | | 09-08-2006, 10:47 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: Portland Or Posts: 2,666 | Jack up car. Unplug O2 sensor cable. (O2 is on exhaust pipe by tranny.) Screw out old sensor (I use a pipe wrench). Screw in new sensor and tighten just firm, dont yard on it. a LARGE crescent wrench works nicely. Your done, put the car back down... I literally did this in about 5 minutes at the autoparts store. Drove the right side if the car up on a sidewalk using their driveway as a ramp. Dave BTW the manual and auto tranny O2 sensors in 95 are not interchangeable. Wire is too short and plug is slightly different. __________________ Dave - PDX 1995 318ti - Active Black and Tan. 2005 330xi - Mtech 1 - 6spd - Orient Blue/Black | | | 09-09-2006, 01:11 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 146 | THE BLINKING " !" Why you yelling? yeah, I bought a universal O2 sensor off ebay for $30. I had to splice wires, but it was all color coded, it only took like 10 minutes, real easy. I was getting the check engine light every now and then and my gas mileage went way down. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
