I would like ask for some advice about a rear camber kit for my ti. The left rear is out of spec. The 18 tires have worn even so far (5000miles). Is it worth the expense to buy the kit, have it installed and the car realigned? | | | 03-30-2006, 02:16 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Michigan Posts: 169 | If the car is lowered by all means yes vwt3 __________________ 95ti Alpine White, K&N cone filter, Fullcoilovers by GroundControl Koni adjustable,Eibach springs. How far is it out of spec? What do you call worth it? Camber kits are expensive and require replacing the rear trailing arm bushings with eccentric bushings. The subframe has to be dropped for all practical purposes to install them. | | | 03-30-2006, 03:17 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Ft Lauderdale, Fl moving to Eastern PA in May of 2007 Posts: 326 | I have a bilstein PSS suspension, coil overs in the front and about 1" lower front and back. I do not have the print out from the alignment handy but from what the mechanic said it didn't seem like much and said he wouldn't give me a recommendation about getting a camber kit installed. My main concern is not the tires but if the car could be damaged some how running it this way. | | | 03-30-2006, 03:25 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Manassas, VA Posts: 4,129 | I sure hope I don't have to do anything complicated to put my BMWBUSHINGS.COM rear camber kit in. I bought both a front and rear set. Puting them in in a couple of weeks, when my Bilsteins and Bavauto springs go in. Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Denver, CO Posts: 3,925 | I had the same concern when I first lowered my car. With HR sport springs and Bilsteins sports, I have -1.8 & -2.4 (I think) in the rear. Enjoy the extra traction!! __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 03-30-2006, 04:04 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | Quote: Originally Posted by DustenT I had the same concern when I first lowered my car. Now I just need to get a touch more camber up front. Maybe I will go with the 25 dollar solution. | | | 04-17-2006, 01:22 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Ft Lauderdale, Fl moving to Eastern PA in May of 2007 Posts: 326 | I am planning on buying a camber kit for the rear of my 1995 TI. Is anyone able to tell me the differene between the Eibach Bmw 318Ti Alignment Kit Rear Part #: 5.67110K - 130.87 @ Drivewire.com and the Bavarian Autosport Adjustable Camber Kit - Rear Part # : 192026 for $ 269.95 ? | | | 04-17-2006, 01:32 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Ft Lauderdale, Fl moving to Eastern PA in May of 2007 Posts: 326 | I am buying a camber kit for the rear of my 1995 TI. I have found two: 1) Bavarian Autosport Adjustable Camber Kit - Rear Part # : 192026 $ 269.95 2) Camber Kit - Eibach Bmw 318Ti Alignment Camber Kit Rear -1.0/+3.0 - Part # : 5.67110K $ 130.87 Has anyone used the Eibach kit? It is a lot cheaper but I am very skeptical about the parts quality and installation. | | | 04-17-2006, 02:13 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | I had no idea Eibach even made a camber kit for the ti. It would be really helpful to see a picture. Eibach is a pretty well trusted company. I don't think that they would make shoddy parts. | | | 04-17-2006, 02:29 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Ft Lauderdale, Fl moving to Eastern PA in May of 2007 Posts: 326 | I think I am going to buy the bavauto kit. I seems like others have used it without a problem and I never heard of anyone using the Eibach kit. Thanks | | | 04-17-2006, 02:30 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | I am a little suspicious that the eibach kit may be mislabeled and not useable for the ti. I googled a pic and it looked like a 'normal' e36 camber kit. | | | 04-17-2006, 02:42 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Ft Lauderdale, Fl moving to Eastern PA in May of 2007 Posts: 326 | I was thinking the same thing. Just ordered it from Bavauto Thanks | | | 04-27-2006, 02:02 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Ft Lauderdale, Fl moving to Eastern PA in May of 2007 Posts: 326 | Camber Kit I just had a Bavauto camber kit installed and the car handles beautifully. The rear alignment is perfect and the handling difference in the rear is noteworthy. It cost me a lot for the camber kit and the installation was a little more money than the kit but it is well worth the improvement and the piece of mind that my tires are going to wear even. | | | 04-27-2006, 02:23 AM | #15 | Member Join Date: Oct 2005 Location: Virginia Beach Posts: 48 | I bought the one from BMP which was just a kit from KMAC. In the end my rear trailing arm was bent and needed to be replaced so might as well put a camber kit in while it was apart. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
