i said the csl's kinda because of the size... i know on my car (sedan), it unersteered like mad with stock wheels/tires. but i got 17x8's and 235/40 tires (toyo t1-s) with 180 treadwear and so far i haven't been able to get the car to understeer at all. when i autocrossed with the stock suspension i don't remember any understeer then, but i do remember spinning out. now i have eibach sportlines and bilstein sports now and the car is sooo neutral. i love it. but yeah i figured staggered rims on my car would increase the understeer because there is no weight up front with the little engine and not enough power to break it loose in the back, and no lsd. i know my car is different than the ti in the way it handles, but i figured i'd give my input anyway. i definately like the look of staggered rims a lot more though.

Well, the countours have 60% of the votes and I've running the contours for a while and I love the way the car handles.

As far as I know here is the weight info:

7.5" M Contour is 22.3 lbs, the 8.5" is 23.4 lbs. I am running OEM M Contours: front 7.5", rear 8.5".

Keep in mind this info applies to the OEM contour wheels. Not sure if the replicas have the same weight.

and the CSLs you were running? is that wheels alone or with tires? i thought the CSLs were only around 24 lbs (i say only because it would seem to be close to the contours).

I am running the CSLs on my E46 325i now. It's a much better fit. The CSLs are too big for the ti. 17" inch are perfect for the ti. The weight is for wheels alone. Yes the CSLs are pretty close in weight to the contours.

what are the tires sizes on the e46 325i (as compared to the ti) with the CSLs?

i'm trying to figure out what rims i want to get. i need at least 17" to clear the m-coupe brakes that will be installed in the future. was looking at either 17" team dynamics pro race 1.2 17x8 front / 17x9 rear (unfortunately don't list weight on bimmerworld.com, but list as lightweight race wheels) vs OZ ultraleggera 18x8 front (18.6 lbs) /18x9 rear (20.8 lbs). sorry, not meaning to hijack

The CSLs are 18" with 235/40/18 tires; I was using the same tires on the ti. Keep in mind that I rolled the rear fenders on my ti. The car felt too heavy and slow with this setup.

Today I am running the contours setup with F225/45/17 and R245/40/17. It's perfect, no rubbing and the car feels lighter.
