Default Two Issues with my DASC

Hi everyone,
As a general "check your system" message to all of the DASC drivers on here, I had a coolant system failure on Friday night with lots of steam and coolant running down the road. Luckly I was stopped at a set of lights at the time and shutdown quickly.
Turned out to be a failure in the plastic coolant junction tube that runs along the side of the engine under the intake / DASC which has the heater hose connected to it as seen in picture 6B on page 7 of the install PDF (step 21). It sheared off at the barb.
The DA supplied heater hose was found to have suffered greatly from heat and was very brittle (could tear it appart with my fingers with little to no effort) so, I would recomend that DASC runners should check that hose and replace if required.

My second issue was discovered while moving the DASC to get at the first issue. On the SC itself there is a bolt hole on the underside of the case that connects to the bottom support mount. My one has cracked and the SC just rests on the mount. My mechanic doesn't think it will be a big issue for me as the intake and the front support bracket will supply enough support and the bottom bracket is just there to take the weight when the charger rests on it, which it is still doing.

So, two things for you guys to look out for. good luck
Ian

I think the additional heat from the DASC causes the hoses to get brittle a little faster than a NA 318ti. I replace my coolant hoses everything I remove the system because I noticed the exact same thing.

I had the same problem with the coolant tube, although mine was just a small leak of coolant which gradually grew to about a 3-inch puddle on the garage floor. I got it fixed before taking the car to the track and leaving a slick for all my fellow HPDE drivers to cuss at me!

I think the DASC does indeed add a little more heat to the equation, but a bigger issue is the fact that BMW places a cheap PLASTIC tube right next to the manifold. Heat and AGE deteriorate the plastic, and our ti's are at least 7-12 years old so those plastic pieces are falling apart even on non-DASC'd engines. If I'd paid attention when I installed the DASC, I'd have replaced all those cheap plastic parts at the same time as a preventive measure...
