Your rotors might be worn or you might need new pads. __________________ 1995 Hellrot Clubsport 318ti -Gone 1996 Schwartz II Sport 357ti - 5.7L V8 LS1/6 1997 Moregrun Metallic 318ti - Gone 1998 Schwartz II sport 318ti - M50TUB25/5 | | | 07-31-2006, 08:17 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | OEM pads will not make any noise. When the brake pad sensor light comes on the pads are almost completely worn. Cars that do not have a brake pad sensor use embedded pieces of metal that squeal when the pad is almost worn out, called wear indicators. Since we have the sensor, we don't need pads with metal wear indicators. Some aftermarket pads may have them, but I know that in all of my BMWs that still run the OEM pad I never get a squeal before the light comes on. | | | 07-31-2006, 08:26 PM | #6 | TRETEN IRGENDEINES ESELS Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Rhode Island Posts: 3,687 | I had a smiliar problem but was pulling to the left while braking and it ended up being a frozen caliper wich i got rebuilt. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 08-01-2006, 02:22 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: cary, nc Posts: 2,259 | yeah same here...frozen caliper __________________ 1995 318ti Active Pioneer Speakers [] Aluminum Billet door locks [] ACS Pedals/Deadrest [] ACS Shift Knob / E-Brake Handle [] Clear Corners/Tails/Sides [] Sylvania Exterior Lighting [] Custom CAI [] Dinan Engine Chip [] Dinan Transmission Chip [] H&R Race Springs [] Tokico Illumina Shocks [] BMW X-Brace [] Relocated Lighter Mod [] Custom iPod Mod http://www.cardomain.com/id/robcarync | | | 08-01-2006, 02:47 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Sometimes you can feel one caliper hotter than the other. Could also be bad guide pins. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 08-01-2006, 06:41 PM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: Florida Posts: 2,525 | I have a set of front calipers that work for sale. | | | 08-03-2006, 12:40 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2005 Location: TX Posts: 140 | one time i got my front brakes done at a "budget" shop. they didn't replace the sensor and the light remained on until i replaced it | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
