My mom's patio roof was collapsed and her trees were shredded. Fortunately no one was hurt in the storm except 1 guy who was trying to take pics of the tornado. My oldest son and his family spent almost an hour in their basement. More storms are expected today, hopefully it won't be as bad. I'm glad I don't have to worry about this kind of weather where Sean is, the mountains keep him safe...he just has to worry about blizzards. | | | 06-08-2009, 04:45 PM | #7 | Member Join Date: Oct 2008 Location: St. Louis, MO Posts: 91 | Here in North Carolina we get a little of everything but not a lot of anything. Closest I've gotten to a bad storm was a few years ago we had about 30 huge pine trees fall in our yard(we only have a .75 acre yard)! 9 of them fell on our bonus room but none fell through. That was a blast to clean up. My dad's 325is was sitting outside during it but was virtually unharmed. I had not gotten my ti at that time. So there's my story for the day. Edit to say that the pine trees fell because there was a mega ice storm that weighed too much for most of the trees to hold up. Don't know how I forgot to mention that part before lol. | | | 06-08-2009, 04:53 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2008 Location: Austin Posts: 3,059 | Rofl wow. He said it was crazy, i was on the road when it started hailing and pounding with rain. | | | 06-09-2009, 06:54 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: norcal - 94590 Posts: 3,186 | Being a California native, tornados are not in my usual thought process... Last time I flew into Denver, seeing the "Tornado Shelter" signs on the bathrooms was almost funny to me.. (notice I said "almost"). My sister had moved to Aurora several years back from N. Carolina, and I asked her how frequent the threat of tornados was. She said that they never came near Denver, but only hit the plains to the north... (She lived off Chambers Ave. which was not really in danger this time, about 10 miles from the tornado touchdown point.) Now I am very glad that we convinced her to move back here after she had twins... I am very glad to hear that there were no fatalities and that everyone (including Cindy, Dave, Eric, and all our .org members in the area) is safe. __________________ James 95 active w/leather interior and sport interior conversion, Vaders, full M-Tech exterior conversion. You could see it out the left side of the plane, pretty interesting to observe. Too bad my camera was stowed away could have gotten some interesting aerial pics! (This has been the 3rd time that I have seen tornados from commercial aircraft while landing in Denver recently). __________________ (00=[][]=00) _______________ ________ Steve Still looking for a monthy driver 1988 M3 parked 1967 2000cs parked | | | 06-11-2009, 06:45 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Rocky Mountains Posts: 610 | That's pretty funny cause Eric (Cali Ti) was waiting at the airport to get to Chicago but the plane that was flying was diverted to Amarillo! Lucky we didn't get anything. Not even rain, or a temperature drop. Today was 98 degrees. And in my car it felt much hotter. I was sweating by the time I got to work. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. So it started raining pretty hard. Next thing I know, it starts hailing. So I immediately pull to the ditch on the side of road, and get it under a tree. Once it clears up, I get out. Then it starts hailing again!! So I pull in 1 more time under a tree. When it cleared, I couldn't get my car out of mud. Luckily I had my tow hook in the back. Called my dad to bring some rope. We attached it to the truck, and pulled me out. Though I scraped the bottom pretty bad. I'm gonna check the damages tomorrow morning. I know my paint is definitely scratched from the tree. Man I love German engineering. __________________ Come get a ti-shirt Quote: From the e30 M3, evolved the e36. I was at that shopping center about an hour before the tornado. Now it's 10:45pm and this huge hail/wind/rain/lightning/thunder storm is passing over the top of my house. There is lightning every 1-3 seconds, and the hail is pounding. There is a constant sound of thunder because all of the lightning. My wife and dogs got up and can't sleep now... lol. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
