Default Wheel Size Advantages/Disadvantages?

I am currently looking to buy some type of 18" rims for my ti. Probably a Beyern Mesh type, AC Schnitzer replica or BMW replica( Don't bash me for not spending 1600$ per rim haha). Anyways, I way wondering if it will make any performance changes to me car. Will my handeling be worse or better? Will my acceleration decrease a significant amount (stock engine).

Also, what weight would be required to keep my acceleration close to the same? And finally, what is the approximate weight of my current rims (16" stock). Any info would be great! Thanks

do a search... I've seen threads with wheel weights before.
as for performance... the bigger the wheels - the slower the car of the line.
'rotational mass', I think it was... + 18 inch wheels (IMO!) look like ass on a 318ti - car is to small for such a large wheel.

I got 17s... I think it that is the at most upper limit for that bodystyle & considering they are 95 M3 OEM wheels, they do not look too bad.
I wouldn't do 18s... it would make the car look funny (IMO).

so with 17's we are ok?
Can anyone please explain me the differences among 16,17,18?
Why is ideally to get better stability, and fuel efficiency?
Thanks!!!

16s IMO are the best way too go. not too big to deter your fuel economy and not to small to lose traction. 18s of course will require larger tires which in the end will give you more stability. but remember the bigger you go the more strain there is on the engine. thats why your fuel efficiency will go lower. it will take more torque to spin the tire every revolution. i have 16s and never have traction problems. 17s look much better and you have a wider selection of wheels but 16s are better IMO. oh and 17+ you have more tire noise and such on the freeway.

There used to be a nugget of wisdom floating around the 'net that always got attributed to Will Turner of Turner Motorsports that a 16" wheel with a 205 width tire was the optimal setup for the 4 cylinder E36s. I don't if he really said that or in what context it was said, but there it is FYI.

I, in adition to make my car look good, want to get better handling in the snow since I commute everyday 30 minutes to work!

Hey, I've been listening to what every one is saying on here but If I was to go with an 18" or 19" inch rim on my '95ti, would I have to do any modifications to get them to fit??? I'm not worried about the gas milage or speed reduction....just looking for show car qualities here. Any help anyone could be would be appreciated.

Thanks
