I am currently looking to buy some type of 18" rims for my ti. Probably a Beyern Mesh type, AC Schnitzer replica or BMW replica( Don't bash me for not spending 1600$ per rim haha). Anyways, I way wondering if it will make any performance changes to me car. Will my handeling be worse or better? Will my acceleration decrease a significant amount (stock engine). Also, what weight would be required to keep my acceleration close to the same? And finally, what is the approximate weight of my current rims (16" stock). Any info would be great! I've seen threads with wheel weights before. as for performance... the bigger the wheels - the slower the car of the line. 'rotational mass', I think it was... + 18 inch wheels (IMO!) look like ass on a 318ti - car is to small for such a large wheel. I dont want to slow down my car .. to be honest is pretty fast! | | | 11-23-2007, 08:16 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2005 Location: NJ Posts: 1,625 | I got 17s... I think it that is the at most upper limit for that bodystyle & considering they are 95 M3 OEM wheels, they do not look too bad. I wouldn't do 18s... it would make the car look funny (IMO). Can anyone please explain me the differences among 16,17,18? Why is ideally to get better stability, and fuel efficiency? I don't if he really said that or in what context it was said, but there it is FYI. | | | 11-24-2007, 02:43 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: Lake Stevens, WA Posts: 119 | I have 3 sets right now, Street 17, track 16, and snow 15. I'm not worried about the gas milage or speed reduction....just looking for show car qualities here. Any help anyone could be would be appreciated.
