Kidding, but in all seriousness, does it seem to be a loss of engine power type of issue, or a worn out clutch/drive line problem? First narrow down to what you think it might be. And get suggestions from there. Did you release the park brake..? haha __________________ -Alex 1995 Bmw 318ti - Cordoba rot | | | 05-23-2012, 04:40 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Jul 2009 Location: Ft Defiance, AZ Posts: 686 | my moneys on a worn out clutch, especially if its the original clutch at 192k __________________ 1999 BMW 318ti 2005 MINI Cooper S | | | 05-23-2012, 05:08 AM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: wadley al Posts: 27 | Its not the clutch or driveline . Or my driving lol.but thanks a needed the joke . The clutch is strong shell still break loose the 225/45/17s in second . Feels like something arching or loosing fuel something along that line | | | 05-23-2012, 09:32 PM | #5 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | Two things are causing your problem: 1) worn engine mounts 2) cracked intake boot. When you start to take off in first gear and shift to second, the worn engine mounts are allowing the engine to rock side to side. This in turn is opening and closing the tiny hairline cracks in your intake boot which is causing the car to misfire/buck. You can easily check this by first leaving the hood open and have someone drive forward a few feet while you stand outside of the vehicle and watch the engine move, and second by purchasing a can of brake/parts cleaner(NOT CARB CLEANER) for 4 bucks, then with the engine idleing, spray brake cleaner on and around the intake boot and nearby vacuum lines. I'm talking about the ribbed rubber elbow just downstream of your air flow meter. Don't be shy with the brake cleaner, hose the whole thing down and try to get the bottom side of the boot as well. Once you hear your engine rpm's fluctuate(ramp up), you'll know you've found your leak. Temporary fix, wrap the boot with several layers of duct tape. Then ASAP order new engine mounts and intake boot. You can find the part numbers on realoem.com(make sure you order the correct boot for your year/options). GetBMWparts.com and pelicanparts.com are going to be your best sources for OEM parts. They have the best prices, fastest shipping and best service hands down. Again, only use brake/parts cleaner to perform the test. Carb cleaner will dry out plastic and rubber parts and it's not as flamable as brake cleaner so it probably won't cause the idle to fluctuate like the brake cleaner does. Best wishes! If they're small cracks, silicone should be fine, but remember it's a temporary fix and get it replaced asap. | | | 05-24-2012, 03:47 AM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Feb 2012 Location: wadley al Posts: 27 | Yea there is a crack in between the rib I just seen it I don't know how many more there is but I'm going to walmart in the morning .to get some kind of seal going .
