Talking 95 318ti Sport. LS2/T56 swap. Need tips/advice guys

So ive managed to land a good deal on a LS2/t56 combo. I dig my 318ti but i crave a v8.

I plan to order a kit that will give me bolt on mounts, custom headers, driveshaft, oil filter relocation, and a custom oil pan.

I need to know if there are any interchangeable M3 performance parts.(brakes, suspension, steering, Anything i may need upgraded?). I need the car to handle the engine, not the other way around

My 318 came with a LSD, whether it'll hold up to 450hp i dont know?

Anyone else done as LS swap?
Maybe manuals are still floating around from previous GearHeads?

Thanks Team

Full front suspension from the M3 in front.

M Roadster out back. That ticks a lot of boxes for you other than front spring rates. What is the weight of your v8 compared to the S52US? If within 50# or so the M3 springs should be ok. Otherwise you need stiffer front springs.

Thanks for the info. The V8 is only 40lbs heavier. So I should be alright. ✌

Will M3 brake calipers, front and back, interchange on the 318?

No. Change the entire front suspension with brakes.

Entire rear subframe with brakes.

I think 330 front brakes can be made to work but I've not done it.

Be nice to see everything that was done in someone elses experience rather than going in blind. I have a good idea but ya know.

Thanks

That's me. And it was about 2011 that things stopped.

2011 I moved and changed jobs. And that new job was a 24-7 deal.

I did send a few out since but very few.

Ohh ha ill be dam it is you. Your the inspiration behind my build
Of all the things to shove an LSx into the 318 to me seems itll be the funnest by far.
Parts here are just so bloody expensive. Im 13k into it and havnt even begun. Probably be nearing 20k by the end of it.

But yea cool stuff man, can def expect me to pick your mind along the way

If I was doing a V-8 in the ti I'd use the 4.0 out of the M5 rather than a Chevy engine.

Also, some wacky German tuner put the V-12 in a Z3 back 15 or so years ago... Twin turbo that hand hang on!

Actually it is all pretty pointless because my mere S52US engine is able to roast 275's in first and second. Although I am planning some upgrades for more (and flatter) torque across the RPM range.

What did you use for the fuel delivery to fun LSx. Did the stock bmw fuel pump keep up? If not what and how did you get around this?

I never did an LS swap. Maybe you are thinking of another member...

I'd probably just put a nice big Carter pusher pump at the tank. Maybe there are better options these days too. Plus I'm not sure of the pressure required. I imagine it varies depending on the particular fuel injection system you go with.

The entire package needs to be thought out well. This is why sticking with oem BMW is the safe bet. You can always look to the donor car for system upgrades.
