Default E30 Rear Axles Fitment?

When getting E30 rear half-shafts do we need the abs or non-abs units? Should they be from only 6 cyl. E30s?

I currently am using the stock Ti halfshafts with my 3.73 but figured since I'm swapping to another diff I might as well swap out the axles as well.

they slide right in and fit perfect.

im not sure but i would say get the shafts from an abs car to make sure you can keep abs.

you do have to make a spacer though so the sensors clear

TT, I did the swap on my 332ti as well. I got the output flanges off of a e30 325i, along with the half shafts. Since you did the swap already, you don't have working ABS. So that doesn't matter. I got mine off of a car with ABS, so if I get overly ambitious someday and somebody actually figures out how to get ABS working on these S52 swaps, I'll be okay.

As thesk8nmidget said, make sure you back out the ABS sensor and shim it, or you'll either ruin the sensor trying to slide in the half shaft, or the shaft won't spin in the wheel bearing.

Thanks guys. Looks like I'm well on my way.

if you've got a complete donor car, take the e30 sensors too. That way, if you ever screw up the ti ones, you can just splice the e30 ones in. That's the state my car is in now.

Yes. I messed up the ti ones when I first did the 325is -> 318ti rear end swap and before leaving tallahassee to move up north, I removed the ti sensors and spliced in the e30 ones. The ABS and ASC lights went out and I tested it a few times on gravel and the rain before driving to DC (and it also got used a couple times on the way up, it was a pretty rainy trip).

It's also saved me a couple times here in pittsburgh in the snow and I had some fun the other day trying to climb up into a parking spot behind a friend's house (for that one I ended up turning off the ASC and using the car's momentum to get me all the way up the incline).
