Well, I want to buy a headunit for around 100-250 maybe 300 if well worth it. What do you guys have in your cars? What do you think is best/looks good? | | | 08-29-2009, 06:02 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | I've got a JVC unit, never had a problem with CDs skipping and it has a cord to connect an ipod, the buttons also light up red so it matches the stock lighting, can't find it now but the model number is KD-PDR30 | | | 08-29-2009, 06:22 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | After having expensive head units in my other cars, I went out and bought a Dual headunit with Bluetooth, USB and HD Radio for $50 after Mail in Rebate, its kinda plasticy but I LOVE It. __________________ -Jeff | | | 08-29-2009, 06:23 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2009 Location: Columbia MD Posts: 215 | Quote: Originally Posted by KooPa What do you think is best/looks good? | Head units make remarkably little difference in stereo system performance- especially if you are using a separate amp. There's nothing made that is simple, black, and understated that actually looks good with the dash in a BMW. Instead practically everything is big, blingy, bright, and cheap-crappy plasticy looking. It's hard to find something that doesn't cheapen the look of the dash. (I want a flashy looking head unit about as much as I want flashy looking heating and air conditioning controls.) But if you like look-at-me bling you're in luck- there's plenty of it out there. K, rant over. __________________ *Except 318ti '97 318ti M-Sport '95 M3 BMWCCA | | | 08-29-2009, 07:45 PM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2009 Location: Ohio Posts: 6 | Quote: Originally Posted by tiFreak I've got a JVC unit, never had a problem with CDs skipping and it has a cord to connect an ipod, the buttons also light up red so it matches the stock lighting, can't find it now but the model number is KD-PDR30 | Yeah, I was looking into Kenwoods, but I have no clue which brand I want. But as for the flashy thing, I just wanted a nice HU that will last me awhile. Cause that's the reason I'm paying this much is because I just want to buy it once, and have it last me for awhile. Cause when I sell this car I can just put the aftermarket Sony HU that it came with back in it and take mine out. | | | 08-29-2009, 08:09 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2008 Location: Raleigh/Charlotte, NC Posts: 1,233 | it already has an aftermarket unit in it...?? I've had a few brands in the past, from sony, clarion, kenwood, blaupunkt and alpine. Out of all of them I have come to appreciate alpine headunits the most. __________________ Clever but we are clueless... Get the DICE HD Radio/iPod adapter/Aux in unit and you'll have yourself a great and stock system. | | | 11-30-2009, 10:57 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Oxford, Ohio Posts: 868 | I have an Alpine 9852 with Ipod Hookup. Having digital media is imperative these days. But who needs CD's now? If I were going to buy a new one today, I would seriously consider this one: http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_5...wAll=N&tp=5684 Black body, color screen, and you can use red or blue illumination. Alpine sound quality is great. You will like it even more if you have quality speakers. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | JVC Headunits | losichu | Interior and ICE | 1 | 08-19-2007 11:25 PM | japanese headunits | impyboy | Interior and ICE | 11 | 07-22-2006 10:57 AM | |
