Thumbs down central locking not working at all

hello my 1997 318ti currently does not lock electronically. although i can set the alarm and it chirps twice (doesn't work, i tried to open the door with it set and it didn't do a thing). The only way i can lock all three doors is it a manually lock/unlock them with the key from the outside or if i push down the locks from the inside. i checked all the fuzes and they were not blown and were the correct amperage. where should i go from here? also all of my interior lights work just fine

I am having the exact same problem but have not really looked into it yet as I only use the car for Autocross. If I figure anything out or find something out on how to solve the problem I will post it here. Good Luck!

I'd try to get my hands on another OEM alarm unit. The one that (I think) is behind the glove box. Maybe the connection or the unit itself has gone bad?

There is probably a way to test the unit, or that harness by applying power to the proper pins that lock/unlock the doors. Would have to look at the wiring diagrams. I don't remember where those are, somewhere around here....
