My car doesn't have any trace of that bracket either.

Well, if you go with the pre '97 setup it comes out to $35.55. However, if you go with the '97-on setup, it comes out to $19.90. I don't think #'s 10&11 are used on the the post '97 setup, perhaps they're incorporated in part#1 or 4? I was just suggesting new because these parts are usually pretty rusty and damaged due to heat and elements. I know when I removed my stock exhaust, a few of the bolts snapped, threads pulled out of the nuts etc. Either way, do what you like. I'd never buy/install used exhaust hardware on my car when I can spend an extra 10-20 bucks for new stuff, but that's just me. Now if it were the actual cat itself, heck yeah I'd pick up a used one before spending $1800

I recently bought that entire assembly except item 1 for about 30 bucks at getbmwparts.
Mine rusted out (items 4 and 5)and the rubber bushings were shot.
Good luck with your search.

I was planning on getting the new stuff...but it looked like it was going to get pricey.

I need to go by tischer soon so I'll just inquire about it then. Stupid nickel and dime crap. I looked around quite a bit in their page and couldn't find the diagram for the mount.

I picked up all the parts for this yesterday (the post '97 version) and it looks nothing like the diagram. When I ordered it I had the parts guy bring up this screen

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...48&hg=18&fg=30

and order everything. Here's what I got.

Does anyone know how this goes together? All the part numbers are correct, I have all the bolts, nuts, and washers but I can't figure out what goes in those two giant holes.

EDIT - Found an old thread about the topic, which I posted in when I first got the car, and elchicano posted up some pics of the post '97 setup. Apparently, the rubber bushings go in those big holes and stay there, with magic?

Interesting. I just went with the old version.

I ended up not using the rubber. Overly complex setup for what it is.

And from what that diagram says, there aren't any rubber mounts. The rubber is only up to 12/1996.
Here's the one for a 1/1997 build date...

Yeah, I didn't expect to get the rubber bushings but the BMW screen said they were necessary.

Thinking about it some more, the bushings are pressed into the big holes pretty good and they really shouldn't move at all when its all on the car.

Almost looks like there should be different rubber bushings for that mount. More like a rubber washer....

I'm thinking they wanted to reduce the complexity and try to use the same parts, that's why it was redesigned using stuff they already had.
