Default please help car wont start 1995 318ti

so i got home from work and it was pritty cold but my car always started even below 0 and i try to start my car and it seems like its about to start and it didn't at all, all it did was crank so i got the codes sheet to check what falt codes are coming up and it shows nothing wrong so i tried some starting fluid and it gets it to start but barily while i spray so i know that its a fuel problem so i took out the back seat and i tried to listen if i hear the fuel pump truning on and i don't hear **** even while i crank the car. so i tested the wires that go to the pump with a test light and im not getting any power to the pump which is weard casue my fuse is good and if my relay was bad it would of showed as i fault code cause it was one of the fause codes on the sheet i got of codes.

any advice of what it could be cause im about to start working on it i just wanted to know where i should start.

thanks

There's a much easier way to tell if your engine is getting fuel or not. Sense it's not running, if the fuel supply system is operating, then all of the fuel being pumped into the engine is not being burned. Therefor if your engine turns over for 15 or 20 seconds without starting all you have to do is go sniff the exhaust pipe. The exhaust will reak of unburned fuel that's being pumped into the engine, not burned, and then blown out the exhaust pipe. Hope that helps!

Glad you found the problem! Good luck with the install. I hate trying to get the smell of gasoline off of my skin.

Just make sure your lines aren't frozen.

The pump may have been weak from age, but something caused it to fail, and considering the temps, I would suspect a frozen line dead-heading the pump.

Just my two cents...
