Default opinion on '98

Hi. My first post. I'm looking for a weekend car to use for cruising backroads and the occasional AX and HPDE. I recently came across this car on CL and was intrigued: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/4772334900.html
I'm not looking to go super fast in a straight line, just enjoy carving corners and driving something distinctive. Also considering E36 M3's, though naturally those cost substantially more.

I've always liked the looks of these, and this one seems to be in good shape with nice options. Is there any consensus as to what would be a reasonable price for this car? Obviously kbb doesn't seem to be in touch with reality.

Any thoughts or opinions? Perhaps someone has already looked at this car in person?

Thanks!

I'm fine with the cali top, I just don't want any kind of convertible (clearly not an issue with the ti...).

I will check out the norcal group- thanks!

It appears to be a really good looking ti! A bit overpriced in my opinion, I'd be comfortable paying about $5k if everything's in order. I've seen this one on Craigslist for a few weeks now, you might have some leverage.

If you do decide to pursue it, be sure to get a pre-purchase inspection done at a reputable BMW specialist to make sure the car is as good as it looks.

Good luck!

That seems close to M3 prices.

With those miles I'd hope to see 2 owners or less and some recent maintenence history. Even then..

Over priced. I've also seen E36 M3s going for that.

I had a 98 Bright Red California.

Clean like mine, but Red.

Cruise, heated seats, OBD and a Sport. Mine has a few more additions on it at purchase and was $2k less.

Clean car tho. Nice car.
