Default ugh - cps whoes and car washing???

RIGHT before I put the bimmer into storage for the winter I was getting it prepped - washed, wax, etc. As I was pulling out of the car wash I pulled a code - CPS. According to the manual, to replace it you need to remove WAY more than just the upper intake, so I said screw it, ordered a new one, and spliced in the wires. I made sure that the wires were sealed very well at the connection points - shrink wrapped and everything.

The code came back, but I had absolutely NO issues. The car ran great. I had the code reset only to have it come back, but still - NO issues with my RPMs.

Today I again washed the car thoroughly. (Not the first time its been washed since then, mind you.) I left the car wash and within 10 minutes noticed that it was misfiring. Then - CEL blinky blinky. F'd.

Took it to pull the codes and got "random misfire." Duh.

Any thoughts?? Is there something in particular that might act up when it gets wet? I really don't feel like spending the $110 on another CPS if I don't have to.
