It could be a little rough since you're going to be molding it to the car anyway. There's going to be a lot of sanding. Basically, you're going to need to make the lip, attach it to the car and then fill the seams with bondo or fiberglass. Then sand it nice and smooth so it looks like it's part of the hatch.

BTW, It's 3:30 in the morning and I'm not exactly sober either

Heh, hooray for alcohol.lol

So you think molding it would be a good idea though?

Molding parts is always a good idea.

As long as you're sure that you want it on there permanently. I mean, you could get it off later, but you'll have to destroy your paintjob to get it off. I think it'll look awesome though and your car will be one of a kind(as if it isn't already).

When you make the replication, It's okay if it doesn't come out absolutely perfect as you'll probably be using a lot of filler anyway whether it be fiberglass or bondo. Just make sure that you guys use a good mold releasing agent or cover the original spoiler with some sort of protective film to avoid unwanted bonding or melting of the plastic. Fiberglass resin and bondo both have a chemical reaction which causes them to heat up and bond to whatever they're applied to. If that stuff gets on the spoiler, it may damage it and it would be a pain in the butt to get off.

I was thinking about making a mold out of something like plaster of paris. Build yourself a rectangular frame out of wood, fill it with plaster and lay the spoiler in it half or 3/4 of the way. Don't allow the spoiler to submerge or you won't be able to get it out. Once the plaster hardens, build another rectangular frame, fill it with plaster and then take the hardened piece with the spoiler sticking halfway out of it and flip it upside down on top of the other half of the mold. Once it's completely hardened, give it a couple taps with the hammer and the two pieces should come apart. Remove the spoiler and you should have a nice two piece mold.

At this point, you could fill any air pockets or imperfections in the mold, perhaps sand any excess plaster run off. Once you have a nice smooth mold to work with, drill 3 or 4 holes through the bottom half of the mold. Take the top half of the mold and fill it with expansion foam(comes in an aerosol can and it's sand able). Make sure you give it a few good taps or drop it on the ground a couple times as it's settling to shake all of the air pockets out. Then take the bottom half of the mold with the holes drilled through it, place it on top of the top half that's already filled with foam. Clamp or secure the two pieces together, make sure they're positioned in the same direction. Through the holes in the mold, slowly spray expansion foam into it from each hole, shaking and tapping it often to get the foam to completely fill the mold.

Allow a few minutes for the foam to cure, then separate the two halves and carefully remove your foam spoiler. Give it a couple layers of fiberglass, sand it smooth and you're on your way to the car. Then you could attach it to the car, use fiberglass or bondo to mold it onto the actual hatch.

If you want to, you could also do what Dustin was saying and make it out of resin. This would be a little more durable. Basically use the same two piece plaster mold and fill it with resin through the holes. This would be easier to reduce air pockets and fill completely as the foam typically clogs up and doesn't flow easily. It'll be a little messy and harder to sand, but in the end it will give better results. Anyway, that's just my idea. Whichever way you guys do it, just try not to mess the spoiler up or get resin or anything that will melt it on it.

Did a full detail yesterday and grabbed a few pics and this is the one i like the best. I also did some video footage from last night before i had my exhaust done. Took a couple shots today after i had it welded together. The sound is amazing. Videos will be up soon.

Dang man no stock M44 for sure. Do you know which B16 motor it was? I'm not sure but aren't there a few versions of the B16 out there depending on year and car?

you go through all the effort of doing a detail and your favorite pic is one that makes the car hard to see? and you're missing the passenger fender trim lol, I have no idea what an "EG" or "B16" is, I'm guessing it's the designation of a car and engine but that's all I can figure out

Heh, i really liked the pic and didnt feel like driving all over the city until i fixed my headlights.

The fender moulding came off while driving home from michigan in the am, i didnt notice until the next morning.

EG is an early 90s honda civic body that weighs in at about 2300 and the B16 has various specs due to which car it came from. This particular one had been rebuilt, cai, and exhaust.

I'm slooooowly coming to the conclusion that I need a bigger motor in the Ti.

I figure I'll rock it as is until there's not much left, then I'll be giving you a call for help.
