reading some of this stuff has got me worried, sometimes (occasionally) i find the gear will not go into first from a stop, usually i just push the clutch back out and in and it is fine. i think the gear has popped out of first once only from first

how serious a problem is this, how long do u estimate it will before this becomes a serious problem, what can i do to limit the damage that must already be caused.

thanks in advance

I would change trans fluid to synthetic right away. Make sure shift linkage is good and clutch adjustment etc. are fine.
