Default Brake Light swtich?

so i am on my 3rd brake light switch in less then a year! Is there a short somewhere or something going on?? My friend told me its my brake lights them selves, he told me to sand the connections lightly to take off any corrosion it may have.

Have you made any changes to the stock brake lights, for example, doubling them up or hooking up a trailer?

Are you in a lot of stop and go traffic?

Hey, there! Is there one here with knowledge on the location of the brake light switch on a manual 318ti? I have the switch, but have heard rumors that the location differs between automatic and manuals. Both brake lights stopped working on mine, so I'm assuming it's the switch...

The switch is just above the brake pedal. Auto/ manual I think is the same switch; however if you have cruise the switch has two sets of contacts in it.
