I agree with just buying the Ebay ones, but i still havent had any problems with mine chipping. *shrugs*

I just purchased those grills, and a few other goodies. Thanks for the link.

Use POR and they won't likely chip. That stuff is durable!

Wurth also sells a semi gloss coating that gets used on trailing arms a lot that might work.

Of course both products cost 20+ dollars a pint.....

I think the aftermarket black grills are okay (3DGE's grills look good), but some of them don't fit well. I bought a set on Ebay that looked okay, but they moved around and could be easily pulled out. So, I ditched those and just painted my original grills black. The fit is perfect since it's OEM, and the paint turned out great, so I'm much happier with them.

I think blacked out grills can look pretty good, but these might possibly look better!

Those are nice and thought about them before, but they're a bit expensive and I'd worry about someone ripping them off. But sweet nonetheless.

I got the ebay ones, the blacked out e46 look. They're pretty good, and they look damn good on my red. I'm happy with them.

As my Ti is Calypso red, I do not think that the blacked out grills would look good. Chrome seems to go well with the colour of my car.

I was thinking about getting a set of those "mesh" kidneys though that replace the flat black plastic with a steel mesh similar to the lower grill on my m3 bumper

Paint yours, and put a few layers of clear over it. I ended up putting about 3-4 thin layers of black, and about another 3-4 of clear. I Dont have any chips on my grille yet either, like other said I would get.
