Default Cold Engine Idle

Is our cars suppose to idle at the same rpm's regardless of outsided temp and engine temp? All the cars i've ever owned Idle higher when you first start them in cold weather untill it warms up then it drops down to normal idle. Well my car idles the same regardless of any temperature?

Is this normal?

My car idles a little bit higher for about ≤10 seconds. That's at about 32F and colder.... Maybe 900 rpm instead of roughly 750.

When it's really cold outside (below 0F) and the engine is cold, I think it'll idle about 1000-1200 rpm for a short while.

As long as it's smooth I wouldn't worry too much.

Test the Coolant Temp Sensor as well as the Intake Air Temp Sensor. They tell the ECU when to be in warm up mode and adjust the air/fuel accordingly. Sounds like one may be bad and causing the ECU to think the engine is already warmed up.

Yea i was just curious. Thought maybe it might be the ICV cuz i used to have a idle problem but i changed my hoses out and that stopped for the most part. Every now and then there is a little fluctuation in the idle so i thought maybe the ICV would take care of both probs if the low cold idle isn't normal.

Mine does that sometimes, but I've learned to tolerate it.
