I have an E30; an 89 325is. The main reason I'm here is because my girlfriend has a 96 318ti and has been all over this board in the last few weeks. Her name is Sylwia (board name 'swits' I believe). I spend most of my BMW time online at r3vlimited.com, so don't flame me because I don't have a ti =P w0rd. | | | 11-18-2004, 05:26 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Welcome. As you know the ti has a lot in common with E30s. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 11-18-2004, 05:36 AM | #3 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Seattle Posts: 19 | Thanks! I have to say that originally I was encouraging swits to get an E36 325is but after spending some time with the ti I think they're pretty cool cars. Doesn't quite have the balls of a 325 but everything else combined makes the car work just wonderfully for her. As for me, my next car will either be an E34 540i or an an E38 740il. I've had small cars for many years now (66 mustang -> 90 G60 Corrado -> 89 325is) and it's about time for the full-on luxury. | | | 11-18-2004, 05:48 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Greenville, SC Posts: 9,356 | Only car I'd consider for under $5000 would be an E30 325is. I'll see what the 2 series looks like. As for the lack of umph in the ti, there is always a Dowing Atlanta supercharger or adding 2 more cylinders. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 11-18-2004, 08:40 AM | #5 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Seattle Posts: 19 | Under $5000, definitely. I would expect to pay around $10k for a 540 or 740 that I would be happy with. Although while I consider myself an enthusiast and fairly knowledgeable about cars, ultimately I prefer light mods and relatively easy maintenence. But yeah, a 6-cyl in the ti would be the ultimate. While we're fantasizing I might as well drop an S50 in my E30 and be done with it | | | 11-18-2004, 08:42 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: Seattle Posts: 140 | No no no, we're supposed to swap MY engine first!!! | | | 11-18-2004, 09:11 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2004 Location: Sydney, Australia Posts: 593 | Welcome to the forums | | | 11-18-2004, 09:59 AM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2004 Location: Sudbury, Suffolk, UK. A six cylinder, probably 2.5 litre, in a TI would be fantastic. | | | 11-18-2004, 10:04 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Manhattan Kansas Posts: 242 | Welcome !
