Default bmw roof rack question

quick question about the factory roof rack. does it come with instructions? i need a rack asap being that is cycling season. any info would be helpful!

i searched and couldn't find an answer.
i know i need part #82719402820 for the Rack support, but do i need a retrofit kit, and if so, what part number?

thanks,
john

Yes, it does come with instructions, and the tools to attach it. Basically #10 and #12 which are an allen wrench for the front support and a coded socket for the rear support.

That part number (82719402820) includes absolutely everything your need. You do need to cut the top rubber padding (#3) to fit, but it's very simple.

Default Thule Roof Rack

I just bought a Thule roof rack for my bike recently. I bought two used "Sidearm" bike racks too. This is a picture from last weekend.

My bike is the blue one.

The bike rack is the Thule 594 Sidearm. Picked up a pair on Craigslist for $200.00. They normally sell for $159.00 each.

Default thule roof rack setup questions and close up pics requested

the setup you have is just what i've been looking for. aero bars on stock foots. do you have close ups of the foot / mounts to the roof? how is the clips fastened to the car? did you use the existing stock channels or did you mount elsewhere? was the install difficult or did you have to modify any part of your car or the thule parts? again looks great.

+1, and I think the rack looks tall enough that it would clear the folding roof just fine if you wanted to open it
