Default BMW Japan

Anyone know if these imports are built completely in Japan, put together in Japan, or imported complete to Japan? And why is the indicator stalk on the left? We've got a 1996 model, Montreal Blue, sunroof, very very nice car, just like new, first NZ owners. Best car I've ever had. My first vehicle apart from motor bikes was a Trekka.

Perhaps they are; it's so long since I've driven any other european. It does take a bit of getting used to, and when I do, and stop putting the wipers on every time I want to make a turn, I've got to unlearn it all when driving my Nissan truck.Interesting though. My understanding is that only Japan, UK, Australia and NZ, have left hand drive. Could explain why Jap used imports are so popular, in NZ anyway.

I know BMW used to export finished, German-built cars through Bremerhaven to Japan. I will keep my eyes open and see if they still do.

my 318 is a Japanese-used model and yes, the indicator is on the left - i think all European cars are the same - I know the Volkswagen's are anyway.
It does take a while to get used to, however there is no better lesson than having your wipers on when the sun is shining!

Leslie, I think the BMW's are built in Germany and shipped complete to Japan.

My E28 from Japan was handled that way and the build sheet shows it was built at Dingolfing.

The build sheet should be attached the rear seat frame under the rear seat and will show all delivered specs including options.
