Anyone who has a set of wide wheels on their Ti, please post up your specs! - wheel size / offset (front/rear) - tire size (front/rear) - lowered or not, camber kit installed? - fender rolling/pulling necessary? - a picture would be nice too! I'm specifically looking for information from guys n' gals who have wide wheels on their compacts to the point that they basically need to roll and maybe even pull fenders alittle bit, but all are welcome to post! I told my self I wouldn't mod my Ti, but I got bit by the bug last night at our local meet when 4 other modded Ti's showed up. I've searched for this info already, kinda tedious if you ask me, rummaging thru pages and pages of info. We can use this thread as an archive of wheel sizes capable for our cars for easy and quick reference. Thanks in advance. Begin the posting! __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 01-31-2007, 10:31 PM | #2 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | I have a set of 17X8 style 42's from an e39 which I'll be installing as soon as I get my roll/pull done. They have a 2" lip, 20mm offset, and a 74mm centerbore which requires a 72.56mm reducer to fit the e36. My tires are Michelin Pilot Sports 215/40/17's and my car sits pretty low with H&R race springs from a 4cyl Z3 Roadster. I'm also looking at a set of Tokico struts from a Z3 as I think they're about an inch shorter(spring perch is lower on the strut body). I absolutely love it when people say it can't be done. I also like how everyone and their mother is using Bilstein HD's just because everyone else is doing it. The HD's actually raise the car +1" unless you use lowering springs. IMO the Bilstein Sports are a much better choice for high performance suspension, but to each his own. I'm currently running stock struts and shocks with no problems, despite the negativity from others. I'll replace them if/when they blow. Props to you for doing your own research and not wasting your money simply because everyone else is doing it. Pics to come. P.S. If a fender roll can't fix it, you can always go widebody. | | | 01-31-2007, 10:47 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Great White North! Unfortunately the roads suck there and they spent alot of time in a little shop in Paterno getting straightend. Both cars had 215/40/17's one car had Michelin Pilots, the other Yokohama Parada | | | 02-01-2007, 01:14 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Muncie, Indiana Posts: 1,551 | BBS RA 8.5 x 17 et 42 12mm H&R spacers 235/40/17 Hankook RS2's (more or less the section width of a 245) KW Variant 3 coil-overs lowered a lot BavAuto Rear camber kit Lots of fender rolling with a baseball bat, heat gun, and a sledge hammer. | | | 02-01-2007, 01:18 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Laguna Beach Posts: 357 | I am running the BMW Motorsport Forged wheels from our 98 M3. 17x7.5 front and 17x8.5 rear with Kuhmo SPT's in 225/45-17 front with 245/40-17 on the rears. The Ti has the H/R sport springs with Bilstein Sport struts/shocks, so it is lowered a bunch. No fender rolling or pulling and no rubbing. I almost went to 255's in the rears, but decided not to, as there is no point overdoing it. Happy with the looks and the handling. No camber kit front or rear so the alignment is pretty much stock. Good luck on you new wheels. AutoM3otives, did you get any pictures of the 4 modded ti's from the meet? what kind of mods were they sportin? | | | 02-04-2007, 02:12 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | Sorry no pics. Tony and Randy's cars were there, as well as a blue Cali-Top with Contours, and a red one, dropped with an Mtech kit and an ACS wing. My Ti is bone stock, but after seeing other done up Ti's, I can't resist modding mine now. Nothing drastic, just suspension and wheels, no performance mods for me tho, not worth it to me and not in my budget. We'll see how things pan out... __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 02-04-2007, 02:37 AM | #9 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: dorchester Posts: 700 | 18x8 with 225 front and 18x8.5 with 235 rear..no rolling, and no suspension changes..(mine came with the m3 suspension as oem but dunno how much diffference that makes) | | | 02-05-2007, 06:38 AM | #10 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Westfield, IN Posts: 1,335 | will e46 m3 rims fit? __________________ Greg M42 Club member 186 WTB: HELLROT RED CLUB SPORT 95 ti sold but staying in the family. | | | 02-05-2007, 06:47 AM | #11 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: SoCal Posts: 549 | Maybe fronts only or reps. __________________ 318Ti Sport (Gone, but thanks for your years of service) | M3 E30 | 190E-16V | M Coupe E36/8 | | | 02-05-2007, 11:03 AM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Ireland Posts: 382 | yeah the fronts will fit... the rears wont (something to do with offset)... as autom3otives said you can always get replicas or if your a purist 4 front wheels..... __________________ ............................. ..........1999 318iS Coupe.......... I'm sure he's done some pretty extensive fender rolling: | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | Similar Threads | Thread | Thread Starter | Forum | Replies | Last Post | tech meet in april 2008? | cali-ti | Great Plains & Rocky Mountains - US | 37 | 04-24-2008 12:52 AM | |
