Default What sensor does OBD2 use for RPM?

Is it the crankshaft or the camshaft sensor? I'm using a bluetooth adapter with Torque lite, trying to diagnose a potential crankshaft sensor failure left me stranded.

I may have answered this for myself - I ran the vehicle while monitoring rpm on the app and removed the camshaft sensor; still had rpm data.
