Got to save for my wedding before i can plough lots of monies into her. I intend to either "charge" her or maybe go for a transplant or even both! I owned a base model 'ti about a year ago and sadly had to sell it....I needed a car for work so bought a cheap Fiat punto HGT (sorry for my foul language) and regretted it ever since, Anyway i saved up for a while sold the crappy punto and bought my new toy! I did quite a few mods on my last one like coilovers,Induction kit,Power boost valve,Alloys,Modded every orange light in the interior into blue lights (even the clock) so the new one looks like a whole new challenge for me! | | | 10-10-2010, 04:43 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: asdfasdf Posts: 10,002 | welcome, one other member changed his interior lights to blue too, it was a while ago but search through posts by "cooljess76" | | | 10-10-2010, 02:39 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Welcome to the board. For turbo information I can help a little. Swaps are great too and either way is not too hard on the wallet...The best would be a swap turbo I did my complete interior lights, gauges to Blue also the only thing I didn't change was my climate control. Fun project and looks great at night | | | 10-10-2010, 06:06 PM | #4 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: Cornwall,United Kingdom Posts: 26 | Hey man thanks for the replies, i will be looking into a turbo conversion in the near future, found one on ebay that includes all you need + a t3/t4 turbo! just bought a complete M44 cylinder head off a local scrappie..Had done 65000 miles so im going to strip it, get it ported and polished.A race cam set and some beehive valves from MM.Any suggestions on a cam? Thanks again! Cant wait for my 5 posts so i can put up some pics! Sunstrips as in banners across the top of the windshield? Nope. Never made them. __________________ ...steven BMW CCA #146825 1996 BMW 328ti • 2003 MINI Cooper S • 2016 M235i www.bmwcca.org | | | 10-10-2010, 06:18 PM | #6 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: Cornwall,United Kingdom Posts: 26 | Ideal thanks!yea thats what I meant, doesn't matter I see quite a lot of ti's in cornwall bit dont kbow if any are on here | | | 10-10-2010, 06:26 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by 318ti_Bonesy Hey man thanks for the replies, i will be looking into a turbo conversion in the near future, found one on ebay that includes all you need + a t3/t4 turbo! just bought a complete M44 cylinder head off a local scrappie..Had done 65000 miles so im going to strip it, get it ported and polished.A race cam set and some beehive valves from MM.Any suggestions on a cam? No polish on the head, porting can help but when you turbo you are craming air into the motor so it doesn't make a big difference like on a N/A motor. Also no race cams. You need the stock exhaust cam and can run a high lift intake cam but no over lap or you will hurt your power on the turbo. Boosted motors need no overlap or your boost will blow right out the exhaust during the overlap period. | | | 10-10-2010, 06:44 PM | #8 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: Cornwall,United Kingdom Posts: 26 | Wow thanks for the advice! i wont bother then lol ill just refurb it and clean it up ready for when i charge it! Definitely in need of some new shoes I reckon, and the towbar might have to go! | | | 10-15-2010, 12:10 PM | #10 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: Cornwall,United Kingdom Posts: 26 | Thanks i have been told its the anniversary edition blue and is quite rare? On the 318is this is true but not sure on the 'ti.Towbar is being removed as soon as my mate moves house (he needs my trailer skills lol) and i have some OEM BMW 16" alloys that ive refurbed and got powder coated in black so she will get the attention she needs! Am waiting for a nice evening sky over the Atlantic (uk side) so i can put in a pic for the calender __________________ She now has new boots! That is quite an unusual shade of blue I think, I've seen it on a 318is before with black wheels and it looked very swish. I have the Avus Blue which is a bit more 'electric' blue which is also a very nice colour but a bit more commonplace (on the ti at least). Most of the other tis I see on the road are either Boston Green or else non-metallic red or black. oh by the way this weekend there is a BMW meet near Saltash going down, mostly bimmerforums.co.uk and a few other forums, interested? Was gonna post on here but I dunno what the mod's policy is on publicising events run by other boards... | | | 10-16-2010, 04:59 AM | #12 | Junior Member Join Date: Jul 2010 Location: Stockport, Manchester UK Posts: 11 | hey guys cant actually we have some cornish and devon members, i had lived down that way for five years and seen all of 2 ti's i had to go to manchester just to buy mine!!! lol bonesey any chance of passin on ebay info on the turbo ? cheers | | | 10-16-2010, 05:12 PM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2010 Location: Southwest England Posts: 379 | I got mine in Plymouth and there's certainly a few driving round Exeter although AFAIK I am the only Exeter ti owner that posts on here. How you could drive a ti and not be on this forum is beyond me haha! One thing I have noticed though is they fetch more money round these parts - well second-hand cars do in general anyway I guess... | | | 10-18-2010, 09:03 AM | #14 | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2010 Location: Cornwall,United Kingdom Posts: 26 | Turbo kit here.... Turbo kit from Canada.includes everything but the wastgate outlet needs to be blocked up as the t3 has an internal wastegate. Cars are generally more to buy in the southwest for some reason,I took a mate to Birmingham to get his impreza as it was about 1000 pounds cheaper that way! Got my first ti from torpoint but the new baby is from camborne :-) I was going to get a techno violet msport from Liverpool till o saw this one and don't regret it at all! Would be good to all meet at some point check each others cars out, once I got my alloys on that is lol Sent from my HTC Hero using Tapatalk __________________ She now has new boots!
