I am sending my car off to have them put the DASC on. One question though. Once the kit is on the car, are they injectors easy to replace. I am going to send in a spare set to get cleaned/flow matched so I will install those myself after the supercharger is installed. Next week works great to have the car gone for a while so I want to drop it off monday. The injectors will take time to get here though. Just want to make sure I am not screwing myself. | | | 07-02-2010, 08:32 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Aug 2006 Location: Central NJ Posts: 2,440 | Yes, they're very easy. I don't think you'll need to get them matched. You can take them off in 5-10 minutes. There's two 10mm bolts holding the rail on, pull the rail and the injector wires and vac hose. Then remove the clips and the injectors will pull right out. | | | 07-02-2010, 08:34 PM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Dec 2007 Location: Gulfport, Florida Posts: 3,208 | Quote: Originally Posted by blefevre Plans have changed. Take your time. It's a straight forward project and not too hard. Just take care on a few things. Have fire extingusher or water hose as with all projects invloving fuel. 1. Release fuel pressure before starting. Crack fittings loose on fuel pressure lines (gaurd eyes). I think there 16mm (90% sure) 2. Remove 2 bolts holding fuel rail. Think they are 10 mm, might be 11mm 3. Remove all injector electrical connections. Squeeze metal wire from under and pull fron injector, may need to wiggle a little but be gentle. 4. Completely remove fuel lines marking front line so you know where it goes for re-assembly. Also careful do not loose double copper washer on each fitting. After fuel line is loose screw washers and fitting back onto fuel rail so they don't get lost. Fuel rail and injectors should be ready to remove in one complete unit. You can pull the injectors off the fuel rail when you have it out of engine bay, each injector has a clip holding it on the rail. A full injector rail could have been pulled off a motor in the time it took me to type this, that's how easy it is. Yes I type with one finger on each hand I'm sure you can do it. JohnBoy, Can you please elaborate about the "double copper washers" on the fuel rail... I'm installing a '96 DASC kit on my '97 Z3 and the fuel rails were different. I sourced a pair of Banjo fittings to fit 5/16 fuel hose, and 12mm hole, to be used with 12mmx1.0 pitch banjoe bolts. All is well, except the bolt is a bit long, so it needs to have the crush washers doubled up on the top side of the Banjo.. so its: Banjo bolt : washer : washer : banjo fitting : washer : fuel rail. This way the holes in the bolt also line up perfect centered in the banjo fitting as well. So 3 crush washers per banjo fitting. Anyway, I hate to use double crush washers (on one side) like this, but are you saying that DASC kit normally does this too? Btw, DA wanted $25 per banjo bolt for the rail I found them at Technofit for $8 (for 2 bolts, 2 banjo fittings, and 6 crush washers...) Or one for each side of the Banjo. Shame Downing is boning the booty for the fittings... Quote: Originally Posted by JP422 Sorry, a bit OT, but...
