What kind of deductible do you have? You might be able to go with DDM type parts and get that fixed for less than your deductible... Replacing with genuine bmw parts you are probably looking at 700-1000$ in damage.

If you have a 500$, you have to figure out if the extra couple of hundred bucks to fix the repair will be cheaper than having the claim on your insurance. If you have accident forgiveness or if your premiums won't go up that much for the claim, it may make sense to deal with insurance. Myself, I would keep any accident forgiveness benefits for a larger accident and not risk my premiums going up for just a few hundred dollars in payout.

I have a $250 deductible. I will see what the adjuster says get back in contact with my agent when that time comes and ask about that.

How certain are you that it was a raccoon that did the damage? I mean, that seems to me like a substantial damage! More than what even a huge raccoon can do seems like.

Probably better to just buy a used bumper, that's what I would do.

If Raccoons are anything like squirrels he probably went squish when you ran him over with your tires. Better hope the family doesn't sue for Coonslaughter.

I buy sell and rebuild sportbikes for a living. I am a cartard, but that looks like injection molded abs to me - same thing 99% of all bike plastics are made of - just google methyl ethyl ketone and plastic welding. you can repair it so you cant even tell in a few minutes. well close to not being able to tell. reinforce the back with extra plastics. just prep, wipe down, hold - tape helps while it sets - tada~!!!

If you ever have a car on critter event, there is a trick my old insurance agent told me,,, When you report it, you have to be very very specific.

"My car was hit by a deer." (Or whatever woodland creature you just slaughtered...)
It turns out that if you hit an animal its pretty much always your fault, if the animal hits you its a comp claim and not your fault.. Any way it worked with Allstate for me....

Hmmm... I wonder how the insurance company would respond to "My car was hit by a pedestrian."
