Default 18 rims off a 740 iL?

i was wondering if the 18 inch rims off a 740 iL would fit my TI? its a staggered set (sport) 18 x 9 in the rear ; 18 x 8.5 in the front. i have always loved the style and me thinks i would look hott, but not sure of the fit. here is a visual aid:

http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/pts/353062783.html

i know that the seller is only selling two but if the chance should come around to own a set i wanna know if i should take them. and yes i also read what the poster stated that they fit 5 and 7 series, but i wanna know what you guys think? or should i just start looking for a nice set of M3 rims?

It doesn't need park distance control, and hates decadence. It is musclepacked, yet lightly wound. It lets you feel the asphalt and get you going with the smallest touch of the pedal. It provokes, seduces, and demands to be driven hard. It looks, sounds, and smells like performance.

Do you mean these ones?

If so, then yes they will fit. The 9" rear might have slight rubbing issues, but 4 fronts (18x8.5) fit no problem.

You can find more info in this thread.

I thought only 3 series wheels fit with 3 series.

Hi HuGo. Any 5x120 pattern with a compatible offset and width will fit. The e39 generally has a vastly different offset than the 3 or 7, and can't be fit on our cars most of the time (again depends on the offset).

Five series (e39) cars have hubs that are closer to the differential, requiring much less of an offset. I bet the 5 series couldn't fit the 7 series wheels because it was hitting the shock or spring when he/she tried to mount it.

I've seen people try to put 5 series (e39) wheels on other cars, and they stick out way beyond the fender too.

You may want to search ebay for 'M Parallel'. There's hundreds of them out there for sale.
