They stopped the production of the ti after the E36 because it was a marketing flop. It came out during the SUV boom, when fuel-efficient compacts were'nt wanted. All things considered, I think the E46 ti is ugly as sin, but to each his own.

mercedes offers a super charged compact thats pretty similar looking to the TI. If you really want a newer version of the TI thats probably the closest thing to it in the U.S. but then again you'd have to cross over to the dark side.

lol ya, my dad has that exact car, and his old car was my TI. Is it possible to bring one of those 'new' ti's from europe to the states? Have to undergo some testing?

You could do it, but you would have to register it as a collector car, which SEVERELY limits yearly milage. The only legal way to do it otherwise would be to but enough to give to the DOT and EPA for crash and emmisions testing.

ROTFLMAO !!!

OMG... are you serious? I have a "vision problem" with that: I can't see it happening!

geez... that's too funny... I'm sure while they're at it, they'll go door-to-door asking for our opinions and sketches. "Hello, sir. My name is Klaus and I'm with the BMW design group here in the US. I know you have no training in automobile design, but we'd really like you to help us design a new 318ti."

hate to put a Ti down.. but the E46 version reminds me of the Hyundai Accent. I wonder if the Europeans have an E90 version of the Ti? Hatchbacks are still populare over there

I've always thought the mid-90s 2-door toyota tercel must have been marketed to look like the e36 ti.

i dunno, the 99+ model tis look pretty nice. 1 series look a lot like the golf.

wouldn't there be another way to get a foreign model into the states without having to go through too much hassle? seems like it would be really expensive in any event.

There's quite a few on the roads here. Personally, I don't like the look of the back..nor the front.

I'd be happy to plonk the engine into my car tho
