Why is the supercharger not released yet? About 5 weeks ago we had just finished our final software tune. The tune was very rough and I wasnt very pleased with what we had. So we decided to look for someone else to do the software tuning. Naturally we decided to go try Nick G. After giving Nick a call and having a few conversations with him about what we were doing and what we needed he told us he would draw up a proposal. What we wanted from Nick were the complete tunes for all of the ECUs along with the equipment to reflash the ECUs. We have since been waiting for a reply from Nick so we know where we are headed. We still havent even began work with Nick and havent heard from him since the initial conversations. This is the big hold up with the supercharger system, I will not release the system till the tuning is perfect and it lives up to its full potential. Where are the rest of the parts? With the delay in the supercharger system we have been pushing all other projects aside trying to find someone suitable to do the final tuning for the supercharger and to come somewhere close to our deadline. What about the website? The website has been neglected as well because of concern over meeting the deadline for the supercharger. But we will be releasing with in the week a partially complete website with mainly you guessed it 318ti parts as you guys are our main concern. Whats up with the Ford guys? Why would a BMW supercharger system also be developed with a Ford supercharger system. Simple, economics. The cost to develop a supercharger system is rather large and by teaming with another small company we are able to spread production costs. Scrivner BMW is the lead company and we are in charge of the design and engineering of both systems. The Ford ZX2 engine shares 2 major things with the M44B19, it has 4 cylinders and around a 2.0 displacement. This allows us to share superchargers and intercoolers (we can buy in bulk together). Why is the Ford project dead in the water? The Ford project is on hold because of the delay in getting the BMW system off of the ground. So since the tuning delay we have neglected the Ford forum, this I regret and personally take responsibility for. If there is nothing completed with the tuning by the end of the month I will begin to release pictures so you guys can know for sure that the program is for real. I will post at the beginning and end of every week making sure everyone is kept informed about our progress. Let me know if there are any specific questions that I may answer. You guys will be releasing a supercharger for our m44s? How much longer do you think? So there will definatly be a kit for us? How is the carb certification going, im assuming you guys havent started with that being that the ECU stuff isnt ready? Thanks for this update. Atleast we know you guys arent gone. | | | 08-15-2006, 06:09 AM | #276 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 102 | Yes we will be releasing a system for the M44s. As for a time I will say its all depending on what we can do for tuning. Carb certification is put off like you stated till a complete system is ready. No problem about the update sorry it took so long. Let me know if you guys have more questions. I know that you guys have to wait for the ECU tuning. But what i meant is, whenever that gets fixed, how much longer from there when you guys get the computer stuff working. Say for example you guys got it working tommorow, how long after tommorow. (of coarse im not saying u guys will get it tommorow, its an example.) I had another question, but i forgot, ill ask if i remember. | | | 08-15-2006, 02:44 PM | #278 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Posts: 102 | Once the tuning is complete release will be right after. We currently have enough components for 10 systems complete, if demand is larger than that within the initial month than there will be a delay while we catch up of around 3 weeks. Again all that is really holding us back is the tuning. Let me know if you guys have any more questions. I think that the wait is worth it because I don't want another "Midnight Auto S/C" incident to happen again (FATHER's car)... -Randy __________________ 97 Jet Black 318ti Sport. Is there a S/C kit out there on the market for the M44B19? If not then we are in the same boat. The Escort ZX2 does'nt have any complete Forced Induction kit either. Now theres members of the ZX2 forums that will get the parts needed for a turbo kit but its not a marketed kit you send them the cash and they get the parts. You have to get the personal tune yourself. | | | 08-15-2006, 09:51 PM | #283 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2005 Location: çî†ÿ øf åNgëL§, CA Posts: 5,314 | Quote: Originally Posted by roushzx2 i have a question. Considering the amount of kits that are available for 1.8-2.0 liter engines using the eaton blower it should be relatively easy to strap one up... I know that miatas, mercedes, honda, and BMW's all have eaton based SC setups. The main problem with the kits of the ti is that they don't use any custom tuning. They just use an inline rising rate fuel pressure regulator to get more fuel into the engine when the boost starts to kick in... So we are really limited in how much boost we can run... Nick G, who Greg is trying to get to do his tuning, has custom tuning for the m44 DASC but that only goes up to 10PSI. He does not offer any custom tuning for DASC on the m42. The nice thing with the SEAM kit is the water cooled manifold and the ability to add an oil cooler to the setup. Hopefully this will allow something in the 250hp range and not have any overheating, pre-ignition issues. For our cars the only way to currently get 250hp is to do an m50/52 or s50/52 swap with some engine tuning as well.. Atleast $8k+, I think most people on here with i6 swaps have spent in excess of 10k to do it right. | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
