Default cosmo intake working that good??

hey guys.. this must seem to be maybe one of the stupidest questions ever but nonetheless.. i installed my air intake and when i was driving today from school.. i noticed that my temp gauge was not at the middle but on the 1/4 line towards the cold side.. the temp out side was 68 degrees and i was crusing around 45 50 mph..is this being caused from the cold air goin into the engine?? or is this due to something else?? when i had my car on high revs the temp needle had went to the middle.. then eventually when i slowed down and cruised it went back to the 1/4 line?? any ideas??

check around the area to make sure you didn't knock anything loose when you were putting the intake in

BMW designed its thermostats to fail open so they don't overheat.
I just replaced mine 2 weeks ago after spending the winter with barely any heat when driving on the Highway.
You will notice that you're MPG will go up as the computer will think that the car is running cold and will run the air and fuel mixture on the rich side. Your car probably feels slightly faster now.

The Thermostat costs about $45-50 including the housing, took me about 1hr to replace. While you're at it, you might as well replace the water pump, which cost another $50-60......after that you will be good for another 100k, hopefully.

The thermostat I got from dealer, 15% discount w/BMWCCA membership.
Water pump from Ebay, make sure it has metal impellers.
If you're serious of performing this, replace the Belts as well.
Good Luck!
