It's from the Euro M3 and has an additional tube that connects to the drivers side brake duct which allows more air into the intake, esp when the car is moving and the brake duct is pressurized. It won't fit the 4 cylinder cars, but for anyone that has a 6 cylinder swap or regular e36 M3, this would be a nice addition. __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | 02-08-2006, 04:44 AM | #4 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Thanks. | | | 02-08-2006, 07:26 PM | #6 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | I don't hear of feel any difference. BUT I'm convinced there is a difference, as why would a big huge company like BMW make a whole other part if it did nothing? It will provide more air to the air box, but you have to be moving to 'ram' the air into the box from the brake duct. SO, even if you did a dyno' run before and after, I would expect you to see no difference. If you provide 100+ MPH wind to the brake duct (and intake horn) and do a dyno' run, I would think you WOULD see a difference. The problem is finding a dynomometer in a wind tunnel... | | | 02-08-2006, 08:56 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Hinsdale, IL. Posts: 181 | Agreed. Many mods are seat of the pants only. How about the sound factor, I may buy it just for the sound. | | | 02-08-2006, 09:06 PM | #8 | doesn't care about you. He designed this HUGE fan to match the wheel speed. __________________ '99 Dinan M3 | | | 02-08-2006, 10:21 PM | #9 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! I am assuming once the hole is cut, the down tube fits in. Thanks. | | | 02-08-2006, 11:32 PM | #11 | Moderator Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Bouncing off the rev limiter in CT! Posts: 3,156 | There's a foam bit that seals the top of the brake duct. There is also a template marking exactly where to cut the brake duct (but there is also another template, so you have to be sure you are cutting out the correct one). I cut mine with a Dremmel and the little metal burr drum. It cut it like butter, and I was able to 'stay in the lines' better than trying to cut it. It's not a round hole by the way, it's a bit of an oval. | | | 02-08-2006, 11:35 PM | #12 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Hinsdale, IL. Posts: 181 | Thanks. Let's see if he's got the whole kit. I have a Dremmel and, yes, cuts like budder. There is not much to it... | | | 02-09-2006, 04:40 AM | #14 | Senior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Location: Walnut Creek, CA Posts: 642 | twomato, Like J!m said, there is no "kit". All you need is the piece in the pic, which does have the foam ring for sealing against the brake duct opening. All you would need to do is take a Dremel tool to the brake duct and insert the tube into the hole. Pretty straight forward. __________________ '95 330ti CS w/sr delete, S50USB30, cams, 24# inj, Conforti SW, Euro HFM, Samco Silicone Intake Boot, BBTB, Euro Oil Cooler, JTD CAI Duct, RE DMS exhaust, RE Tranny mounts, CF Valve Cover, LTW flywheel/Kevlar sprung hub clutch, RE SSK, 3.46 Finned LSD (M6) , M3 tranny, Brembos, RE Wheel Studs, SS brake/clutch lines, CF interior, Rear Headrest retrofit, Tilt Steering retrofit, 13.5 lb DynaBatt in rear, LED interior/footwell lights, ZKW HID, Headlight Aim Control, Rear fog light w/cluster indicator, CF 3 Aux gauge pod, BMW Traffic Pro/Alpine MP3-CD Changer, Staggered LTW wheels, '95 M3 steering rack, VIS CF Hood, M3 LTW Strut Bar, TCK SA coilovers, Red LTW Motorsport Seatbelts, OEM Fire Extinguisher, Z8 Starter button, Auto dim rear view mirror w/ Homelink/Compass, PDC, Rear Sun Shade, Euro Gauge Cluster w/oil temp/shift light , Headlight Washers, "Motorsport" Door Handles, CF Grills, French ZKW Fogs, Euro dash bins, Power Lumbar Support is next, Coming e39 M5 interior light, Bimmer Magazine 8/2007 | | | 02-09-2006, 02:16 PM | #15 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2005 Location: Hinsdale, IL.
