So I am prob going to sell the Club Sport and go for a Mk.V GTI 2dr. Sell off my BMW/Ti collection, and some of the aftermarket stuff on the Ti drove one today, 6 spd manual..and it was fun. plus it's more civil than the Ti with more Tech/comforts that today on my 26th B-day I feel the need for. I spent a week looking at BMWs, and other than a 120d or 130i Hatch, nothing gets me..so i looked at a MazdaSpeed 3 which I didn't like the 5 doors. I don't think I will be modding the Vdub..least not for awhile. going back to school, and work, and saving up for a german built Semi-Auto Sturmgewehr 44 for Xmas will be my current wants. Also the VW, will be more forgiving for the couple treks I have planned for 2008. | | | 07-12-2007, 10:54 PM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | not as spartan as the club sport...but I like the pattern, almost as much as the Millpoint...and I do like the gauge cluster..although the Blue lighting will take some getting used to. | | | 07-12-2007, 10:56 PM | #3 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | You'll probably be able to get a lot for it. IIRC some guy just sold one for like 18 grand, lol. Your car is 100 times cleaner than that one and I just hope whoever gets it, takes as good of care of it as you do. I sent you a PM last night, Happy B-day __________________ 4 MORE YEARS BABY!!! | | | 07-12-2007, 11:05 PM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | got that PM, Thanks Cj. doesn't mean I am turning my back on the Ti/Z3s, just at the time I want a new machine that doesn't need me fixing this or replacing that or upgrading this. Plus I wanna go fast..As Ricky Bobby said. | | | 07-12-2007, 11:26 PM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Fl...tampa area Posts: 320 | my best friend has a mk5 with dsg and i drive it all the time...the car is incredible really...very fun, very quick, handles amazingly, great interior...not a bad choice by any means, id totally rock one | | | 07-12-2007, 11:30 PM | #6 | NOBODY F's with the Jesus Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: Ventura California Posts: 7,824 | The VDuB is a great car and the GTI is definitely fast. They're torky little suckers. I love the upholstry pattern as well. We used to drive Golfs and Passats as our police cars when I lived in Sicily. The turbo diesel Passats were awesome, but a little big for the narrow streets in the metro areas. The turbo lag took a little getting used to, and the blue dash lights were very pleasing to the eyes. The clubsport should fetch you a pretty penny, as well as your colection of parts. But just remember that when you're in the market for another Ti, you probably won't be able to find one as nice as the one you have now. | | | 07-12-2007, 11:36 PM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Jan 2007 Location: Los Alamos, NM Posts: 344 | doesn't the Vdub feel remote compared to the clubsport? I can see it being faster, but does it have a playful soul? That was always my prob w/ volkswagons. fahrvergnugen nicht! | | | 07-13-2007, 01:04 AM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2004 Location: Port St. Johns, Florida Posts: 2,242 | when I got the club sport from the PO, it was in need of a major overhaul. I drove it back from Nebraska to Florida on busted Balljoints and blown shocks.(when it got home I spent over a grand on the suspension doing just the basics) I checked out the twin clutch dsg, but I am not a fan of paddles. I like the 6 on the stick better. it's .02 sec slower than the paddles according to VW.com. | | | 07-13-2007, 02:11 AM | #9 | Junior Member Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: HI Posts: 11 | Congrats on the VW GTi decision. I've always had this thing for the Audi/VW designs -- uber sexy on the V dub tip. Post some pics when u can. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
