He was filled with passion and enthusiasm for wildlife that we should all hope to have. He was a great man, and will surely be missed. The sad part is he didn't die from a croc but a stingray shot his stinger into his heart. Anywhere else and he'd most likely be still alive but it put a hole in his heart. __________________ 98 Avus Blue 318 ti Active clear outs all around, stealth turning signals, blue led interior lights, 35% tinted windows,K&N air filter, 12" Kenwood Sub, MTX Thunder Amp,Alpine cd changer, Leatherz Armrest,ACS Pedals/Handbrake/FloorMats & Vitesse Tuning Carbon Fiber B-Pillars/CF Spark Plug Cover, New 16" MSW Typer 14 Rims on Goodyear Triple Treds www.myspace.com/avusblueti | | | 09-05-2006, 04:36 AM | #4 | Senior Member Join Date: Feb 2005 Location: Tampa, FL Posts: 677 | omg I heard about that from my friends today, I almost cried, it was actually a life ambition to meet him because I wanted to go to Australia during a time he would be at his zoo and finally shake the hands of the most amazing man on earth. Im actually starting to tear up now =.( __________________ my new world | | | 09-05-2006, 04:53 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: New Jersey Posts: 363 | http://youtube.com/watch?v=gVEVUxyxB...elated&search= I'm sorry, but this is the kind of man we lost. That video tears me up. I grew up watching his original series, he's the reason my brother and I got into reptiles. I feel bad for his young family as well. __________________ RIP Tonka Hitlerietta 08/03/04 - 01/25/05 | | | 09-05-2006, 05:41 AM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Jun 2003 Location: Jacksonville, Florida Posts: 322 | I heard about that. I actually never watched any of his shows, I've only seen commercials, but he seemed like an amazing guy. | | | 09-05-2006, 07:28 AM | #7 | Senior Member Join Date: Oct 2003 Location: Wilmington, NC Posts: 641 | terrible news! -chris __________________ 18'' Ace Wheels • Pirelli P7000 SS Tires • Bosal Brospeed Exhaust • B&M Short Throw Kit • H&R Sport Springs • Euro Clears • cat delete • Rogue Engineering Clutch Stop • Modded Airbox • blacked out kidney grilles • Suede Headliner/A Pillars S52 CONVERSION UNDERWAY | | | 09-05-2006, 02:51 PM | #8 | Senior Member Join Date: May 2005 Location: Pismo Beach, CA Posts: 500 | Wow, that video had me tearing up. Thats sad. Poor poor man, but rather that way than say a car accident. At least he did die doing something he loved. He taught folks that animals do what the do because of what they are. Not who they are. Got people thinking in a scientific direction instead of emotional direction. His impact because of that makes him dang near imortal. Couple years ago I knew an old guy (78) who raced in a little old british car. In J prod. He actually beat about 3 other cars and died during his victory lap. Coasted off the end of the last turn and stopped at the tire wall. Thats how I wanna do it.... I always expected him to go like that but it was still shocking. I think the freak accident was quite appropriate, he is only the 17th person ever to die because of a stingray and I think thats right because now he will be famous in two ways. I also thought it was right that he went out like a BA and pulled out the barb. Quote: Originally Posted by pdxmotorhead Couple years ago I knew an old guy (78) who raced in a little old british car. Dave | That is the absolute best way to die that Ive ever heard of in my life. I always thought of the kiwi guy who died of a heart attack while he was racing a E30 M3 was a great way to go, but that is much better. __________________ "Drive Fast and Take Chances" | | | 09-07-2006, 07:28 PM | #12 | Member Join Date: Apr 2006 Location: Bristol UK Posts: 91 | Irwin was a legend the aussies were going for a state funeral but his dad said no - because he was just an ordinary bloke. __________________ 1997 Moreagrun | | | 09-08-2006, 02:36 AM | #13 | Senior Member Join Date: Mar 2006 Location: Norfolk, Virginia Posts: 289 | I seriously have been almost close to tears while watching some of the SteveIrwin videos online. I kind of felt like I knew the guy having followed his career and watched him and his family progress. I also felt like a kindred spirit of his being that we share the same views on animals etc. I came probably the closest to crying when I heard about his death as I have since I was about 8 years old. The world is now a worse place for having lost Steve Irwin. __________________ Silver 98 318ti Standard trans, Sport Package: 16" Stock Wheels, Foglamps, Sunroof, Heated Leather Seats, Bilstein performance shocks, OEM Sach's clutch kit, Dunlop SP Sport A2 225/50/16 tires, Alpine CDA 7894, Dual Rockford Fosgate 12" subs, Rockford Fosgate Amp, Leather Armrest, Replaced M44 engine with only 40k on it! http://www.geocities.com/evalha/bmwsmaller.JPG | | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
