Default First month in my 318ti

This being my first BMW, I can say that I am very pleased with what some say is the "cheapie" BMW. It gets the looks & mileage & still has speed (first kill yesterday, some pimped out Honda).

That being said, here are some questions off the top of my head.
-I like to use the handbrake, can you pull it hard or will the cable break.
-Is there any way to get the gas & brake pedals further apart.
-The shifter sucks (automatic), is there an aftermarket. It REALLY sucks. I absolutely can't stand it. My 85 Corolla had a better shifter.
-Does someone make different switches. All the switches on the center console look the same & I have to actually READ them before pushing anything. How many times have I hit the Auto/Manual transmission switch when trying to lower the window. That Auto Manual switch is useless without a decent shifter anyway!

Anyone else address these issues or am I picky??

BTW anyone need the stock steel rims. They're taking up space in my storage.

i use my handbrake a lot...i pull it just as hard on any other car and no cable snappage...

what kind of shifter is it...the 'T' handle shifter? i have an AC Schnitzer replica shifter, but its the same shape as the stock 'T' handle so it wouldnt help you much i guess.

once you get used to the car, you know which switches do what...you get used to it and you wont need to read it or need different switches.

I didn't get a T-handle, it looks like a leather covered manual shift knob & the switch is on the front which you have to pull with your middle finger. Possibly a BASe model thing?

Good to know about the handbrake... on rwd cars you have to pull hard sometimes!

The hand brake should hold the car when pulled with two fingers, about three clicks.

If it's clicking more, or you have to crank on it to hold the car, get it fixed.
