Default What oil does the dealer use on my 98' ti? Syn or Fossil?

The 2nd car in my household is a 98' ti. I am planning on doing some routine maintanence to it and I wanted to know what the dealer has been putting into my 1998 318ti. Syntentic or Fossil???

Also, she is at 80k miles and Id like to give her a nice overhaul to make sure she doesn't break down anytime soon.

Thanks!
Justin

The manual asks recommends (requires, perhaps) synthetic. I don't have any reason to believe all dealers would have to use the exact same oil.......But if you are concerned and want to use the same oil that was put in her last time, call that dealer up and ask what they use.

in general, dealers will use dino juice unless you specify synthetic.

if it costs over $45, it's probably synthetic, or you're being screwed.

at 90k i switched to synthetic, and the car runs fine. i say just buy 5 quarts of mobil 1 and do ur own oil change. our cars are so easy to work on its great thing.

I have been using Mobil 1 on my Audi and push the oil change interval to every 5,000 miles. I do not see much difference whether to use synthetic or organic, if you stick with oil change every 3,000 miles.
