My ti is basically stock with the M44 motor. I need to replace my engine mounts and can get a set of M3 engine mounts for basically nothing. From what I can see our car has a different part number then the 6 cylinder mounts. When looking at a picture, the two mounts look very similar. | | | 11-17-2010, 05:10 AM | #2 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2007 Location: Elizabeth City, NC Posts: 3,877 | I've been wondering about this for a while now too. There are a few posts on here and bimmerforums saying that it can be done. I haven't seen any comments on additional NVH. FCP has them for $60/pair, anyone used them on a swap who can comment on the quality? __________________ ~Dave~ 98 328ti Morea Grun slicktop 11 128i space gray slicktop 13 JGC WK2 Deep Cherry Search | RealOEM | | | 11-17-2010, 05:34 AM | #3 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: Charlottesville, VA Posts: 102 | I do fear the amount of NVH that may be created, especially since the M44 isn't the smoothest motor. | | | 11-17-2010, 05:49 AM | #5 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: Charlottesville, VA Posts: 102 | 70A is a pretty soft urethane but I would think they are a little bit stiffer. I am not a huge fan of urethane for engine mounts since the headers can cause them to melt. Maybe I will give the M3 mounts a try since it can't hurt anything. Just need to find time to install them. | | | 11-28-2010, 11:51 PM | #6 | Senior Member Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: Charlottesville, VA Posts: 102 | Just added M3 engine mounts on the car last night. They fit without any problems. They appear they have added a little NVH but that was expected, especially with the M44. | | | | Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 1 (0 members and 1 guests) | | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | |
